Hi, all, and happy Friday. I want to send a special word of love and concern to my readers in Hawaii, and Maui specifically. I’m gutted and concerned for you, but on top of thoughts and prayers I wish to make you a pledge: I promise to keep fighting for you and for all of us. The climate crisis is here. It’s frightening, angering, and deeply anxiety-producing. It’s also, as we’re seeing once again, deadly.
Sorry, all--here's the correct link to the Climate Coach--https://s2.washingtonpost.com/camp-rw/?trackId=596a9968ae7e8a0ef3406cdf&s=64d4fbfde86efa475a47fd05&linknum=4&linktot=45&linknum=4&linktot=45
You got this one TOTALLY right, Jess: "a suicide note wrapped in policy rhetoric". This is the playbook of Republicans on EVERY issue, from democracy to women's bodily autonomy to climate crisis. We have to get it all reversed FOREVER in 2024!
Hi Jess, great messages. But we shouldn't lose sight of THIS year's elections and the importance of electing Democrats. Not only do we need to do so at every opportunity, but the momentum will be needed going into 2024, because we know that TFG and his surrogates will stop at nothing to return him to office, including supporting 3rd party Trojan horses from the shadows.
Oh absolutely. And I have no intention of losing sight of any of them! Elections I'll be focussed on in 2023: Mississipi Governor, Kentucky Governor, Louisiana Governor, VA statehouse, NH statehouse, and likely more.
Jess, thank you for including our ISBLA August 16 Zoom event featuring Ruben Gallego and Ted Lieu in today's newsletter. We plan to ask them to have the intelligent discourse that has been missing from Congress under the MAGA majority. Best of luck on your Nova Scotia journey. Patti
I called my Senators and Congresswoman today in respect of the need to oust Mr. Justice Thomas either by resignation or impeachment. Funding will be later this afternoon.
Just a note to everyone re these banks that fund oil and gas development. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but when you hear about another bank doing this, if you are able, make sure you do not bank with them or carry their credit card. I know it doesn’t seem like much, but it does make a difference when you remove your support from them. And you will feel better for doing it. And I’m sure there is a website that lists all these banks, but I can’t look it up right now.
It's absolutely true! This is on my "What Can I Do About Climate" doc. It's actually very meaningful if enough of us do it. Switch banks! I highly recommend pretty much any credit union.
Yes I'm so sorry--that was the phone number Stop the Money Pipeline sent out. I just tried it--I usually call BEFORE I post and this one time I didn't--and it is, indeed, wrong. I will get the right number from the org and send an addendum. Sorry about that!
I tried calling the citibank board number for John Dugan and the fellow that answered said he is no longer there, this is an old number for him apparently? Thanks.
Dear Friends, I have a question if anyone has a thought about videos in the courtroom. "Is there anything we can do to impact or promote the idea of having the Trump indictment trial with camera's in the court airing live?" This assumes most folks believe we should. I'll posted this question on Today's Edition as well.
Have you heard of the CivicsCenter.org? I’m anxious to try and get people registered for our November election but my usual postcard writing organizers haven’t started yet and usually focus on getting voters out not registered. I wonder if civics center is a good outlet?
Yes yes! I write about them all the time! As does Robert Hubble! They're wonderful and absolutely deserve support. I often recommend their postcarding projects with one caveat--you do have to pay for the postcards. But they are terrific! I think they just started a new postcarding campaign into Ohio. Highly recommend.

Anytime! Sounds like an excellent event!

Great!

Hi, I was eager to leave a message for John Dugan at Citi, but that doesn't seem to be the correct number. Anyone know how to best leave a message?

I have had two actions promoting that thus far--have you seen them?
No! But I’ll go back through your most recent posts and find them. Thanks.
https://chopwoodcarrywaterdailyactions.substack.com/p/chop-wood-carry-water-89-dab this one has calls to your reps about it...
And this one has a resistbot letter to Justice Thomas about it. https://chopwoodcarrywaterdailyactions.substack.com/p/chop-wood-carry-water-810-48f
