https://apple.news/AACP0wZpWQMS5XQolbL_64g This is an article in the Guardian about the Republican Mayor of Mesa, AZ John Giles endorsing Kamala Harris! Thought you might like to know….
Thanks Jess for all that you do. The numbers are awesome and I'm pretty sure that your impact is greater than you think--because many of us have just kept our heads down and have been doing the work. Due to your newsletter, I've personally mailed over 1,000 postcards for the Environmental Voter Project, and who knew I'd be participating in Deadheads for Kamala! But here I am and so glad to be here.
I'm so glad you signed up! I'm dying to hear how it is! They actually sound like they've got a good lineup for it! And 1000 EVP cards--WOW! That's amazing and so impactful! Thank you!
Jeff Bridges also played a President whose VP has died and he had to choose a new one in one of my favorite movies, I think from the late 1990s, THE CONTENDER. His character wants to appoint a female Senator (Joan Allen) putting a Roman in the VP seat as his Swan Song, and the DNC wants a specific male governor. At the end of the movie they display a statement across the screen that brings me to tears every time I try to even describe the movie. Like now.

The Deadheads for Harris made my day! Will be forwarding to lots of people! Grilled cheese for everyone!
Also if anyone has an itchy writing finger, Blue Wave Postcards is about to sell out of their PA vote by mail KAMpaign -make it easy to vote and vote early.
I have been bombarded by alarmist or over-the-top emails from Progressive Voter Turnout. Can someone let me know if they’re legitimate and/or effective. My reaction to their emails is to delete them.
Yeah they're the folks who do the Postcards to voters campaign but they do send a lot of fundraising emails. I'd just unsubscribe! You'll hear about their postcarding stuff here.
Fired up and positive! As my guv Gretchen Whitmer says to remind herself to smile even when the going gets tough, SW, MF! (google it)
Can anyone shed any light on concerns about election deniers infiltrating state election offices in swing states? I knew some of this would go on, but the situation now sounds - out of hand. Rachel Maddow just did a segment on it, and noted in addition the former prez's increasing use of phrases such as "You don't have to vote! We already have enough votes!"
I also think the way the enthusiasm and popularity has skyrocketed around the country, is big too. In 2020 part of the narrative was they couldn't believe that many people voted for Biden. 🙄 The bigger the deal things are right now, the less it carries any weight to anyone other than the cult.
Yes, I posted yesterday about those concerns too. It's scary, and it caused me a bit of spiral. But these are the things that I have found helped me: 1) I've read that the DOJ / military has a plan for it and is aware of it. 2) Marc Elias and the Democratic lawyers are fighting battles (and winning) already to stop some of the issues. 3) The fact that news orgs are starting to (finally) cover it is getting ahead of the story and controlling that narrative. Shedding light on it now is important. 4) At the end of the day, at least Biden-Harris are the ones currently in office AND the immunity ruling goes both ways. If a state of emergency needs to be declared, so be it. 4) If we can keep this momentum up, it could all be a moot point.
Teresa can you email me what you've read about the DOJ and military? I've had a million TikTok followers ask me about this so I need to put together some repsonse.
Let me see if I can find it! I was down a spiral rabbit hole last night. It was a former WH staff worker who has a Patreon, but is also on Twitter, and had done an AMA. I was just trying to find it again now, but I can't. I'll keep looking! My guess is that there is not a lot out there because they aren't going to make their plans public.
Thank you, Jessica, for adding the Rural Democracy Initiative to your Where to Give doc.
I'd like to call attention to a zoom call next Tuesday Aug 6, 10am – 11am (Pacific Time) / 1pm – 4pm (Eastern Time) highlighting RDI's Rural Youth Voter Fund, and featuring speakers Sarah Jaynes, Rural Democracy Initiative and Camille Thompson, Collective Renaissance Georgia.
The road to progress runs through rural America. Even beyond the electoral college, our system favors rural votes – 60% of the US Senate is elected by just 25% of the population, in mostly rural states, and 2/3 of US House districts are classified as “Pure Rural, Rural-Suburban, or Sparse Suburban.” Serious engagement with rural and small town voters is essential to create a stronger democracy and shared prosperity across all our communities. The Rural Youth Voter Fund aims to support and expand year-round civic engagement and power building strategies to mobilize young voters under the age of 35 in small towns and rural areas.

I had it in the newsletter today and then deleted it for space. I'm aware, and it's great. It'll be in Sunday's good news roundup!
So totally awesome!! A REAL Patriot!!! #CountryOverParty
I was so happy to see that mayor’s statement!! The tides are a’turning!

Do you have a link to deadheads for Kamala?!
It's in the newsletter.

Following your lead Anne! So great to hear about your efforts. Ready to jump in.
I was curious - so this white woman signed up!
There are a lot of white dudes out there...And there were a lot of speakers!!!
One right after the other. I tore myself away after 2 hours!! It was still going on...
Couldn’t believe how much fun it was to be on that call.
Thank you Jessica Craven for highlighting all the numbers below.
❤️🤍💙 Deborah
Yeah I really wish I'd signed on. Sounds like it was epic!

A WOMAN, not a Roman. I need to learn to edit prior to hitting the blue arrow.

Great tip!
😉😂😘
I was curious about that...lol
We were on both of those calls last night, Jess, and they were both fantastic!
Yay! I can't believe the White Dudes call was over three hours long!

I bought 1000 for my hub!
Shout out and thank you! Happy Posting!!
Love all these numbers. I was on the Women call, and then I checked in a bit on the Dudes call. So inspiring to see.
Right?
Jess - how about a list of nonprofit tax deductible organizations that do good work that those of us who are taking our RMDs can contribute?
Great idea! There are a couple in my "where to give"
doc! https://docs.google.com/document/d/13pvzT4gB7FK7n0O_3p6_ymrBaSIlpB3YbkuZCjNXGKw/edit The Center For Common Ground is a top pick--they are nonprofit and also American Independent Radio. Links in the doc.
I also like the Civic Center (www.thecivicscenter.org/) and Campus Vote Project (https://campusvoteproject.org/). Both are 501(c)3 organiztions focused on educating and registering young voters.
Great news. Love to see these figures.

Should I reply to a newsletter to email you?
send it to me at hijesscraven101@gmail.com if that’s ok
