I posted these earlier on Steady, so I confess to plagiarizing my own work.

TFG: "WITCH HUNT!"

Jack Smith: "FOUND ONE!"

Jack be nimble;

Jack be quick;

Jack will make the charges stick!

Not funny. Not funny to make fun of black dialect. Not funny to joke about Trump's conduct and criminality. This is serious stuff.

It never occurred to me that that meme was making fun of Black dialect. Into Action is generally really careful to vet their content, and that meme has been around forever, so I posted it without too much consideration. I'm so sorry my posting it offended you. As for joking about Trump's indictment, we will have to agree to disagree on that one. I think humor is critical to our staying sane. None of us underestimate the gravity of the situation for a minute. AND playful jibes are a way for us to express relief that something is finally being done. We live in very serious, very dark, very scary times. We work very hard, and many of us are very, very tired. If there's a chance to ALSO smile I'm going to take it.

I'm with you, Jess. I guess it shows, that even among (presumably) like-minded people, we sometimes take (or give) things the wrong way. Heck, sometimes I even offend myself!

What "black dialect"? "Jack be nimble" is from 17th century England (manuscript of 1815, probably referencing a 16th century pirate).

I believe she was referring to the meme at the top of today's email.

Yeah but that isn’t black dialect, it’s just a groaner pun.

At the risk of offending someone, I'm gonna try another Morganism:

Jess - it's funny you use the metaphor of beating back your inbox. On Wednesday, Swing Blue Alliance is offering its popular class: Taming Your Wild and Woolly Inbox. We don't have too much room left in this class, but there are a few open spots if you know an activist whose inbox is overflowing. Here's the link to sign up: https://www.mobilize.us/swingbluealliance/event/563200/
