I admire your activism and have been thinking for a long time about becoming a paid supporter. As we move from 2022 forward, it's a goal of mine to follow your recommendations every day. I'm looking for several ways to grow my activism, and I hope I can live up to your standard. xoxo
WARNOCK WINS!! Great job, everyone! I was very encouraged yesterday texting via Black Voters Matter, and so many folks responded that they'd already voted (or would today). But tonight was a nail biter... Whew! Jessica: THANK YOU so much for all you do, for keeping us all informed and on track. I'm also very glad to hear you've recovered from COVID -- I had it for the first time a couple weeks ago, too. It was a great run! (LOL)
WE DID IT!! I felt really good about this one, for some reason, so can't say I'm surpised. But I am thrilled! So much stuff can get done faster now! Halelujah! And thank you for being a texter! It really mattered!
After the staffer in Chuck Schumer's office took down my message about Joe Manchin's side deal, he asked if I was calling from Indivisible, which I thought was odd.
I said that I often make calls on my own initiative but that today I was calling as part of a contingent from Jess Craven's group: Chop Wood, Carry Water. We are a force!
I am your huge fan and grateful participant in your calls. However the issue today (and yesterday) has me genuinely puzzled. I am concerned that we thread the needle of essential conversion to green energy with global defense of democracy.
Yes, I read that Friedman piece when it came out originally. And since then I think I've gotten better educated about this bill and what its problems are. It's not that we don't need permitting reform. We do, desperately. But what we don't need is a permitting bill that guts NEPA and speeds on oil and gas projects that create "climate bombs." This bill does both. It's disastrous from a climate standpoint. If the argument is that we need to fast track green energy projects I assume that's because of climate. Well, we also need to keep NEPA strong, for the same reason. And to stop new oil and gas projects, for the same reason. There should be a bill that does all of this, and that bill should have to go through the same procedures as any bill--markup, debate, revision. This bill is being forced through because it can't withstand scrutiny. That's my strong feeling. But climate is also a top issue for me. As I believe it should be for everyone. After all, we have no global defense of *anything* if we don't have a livable planet. It truly is that straightforward, at least to me.

Wonderful! Thank you for this!
I love the Alice Walker quote for today! It’s a rent I am honored to pay and stands in stark contrast against the inflated housing rent I pay 😥
Great, right?

This is a better link to Thomas Friedman's piece (the other was a site quoting him: sorry)

Thanks for this thoughtful response!
