You did the best job I have seen on pointing out how insignificant the iowa vote is yet weeks of nonstop coverage. Buried in this article from the NYTimes it states ".... only 15% of Republicans voted"..... this is critical information that should not be buried!!

Thank you so much for this, Jessica. It continues to be beyond my comprehension that ANYONE could even consider voting for that cesspool of a human. But you're helping to ease the hand-wringing, which is why I'm both grateful AND a paid subscriber. (And let me tell you, I'm cheap. I don't pay for anything if I don't have to. But you're worth every damn penny.)

Quick update on Tom Keen’s election today! There’s a phone back until 6:30 today using an auto-dialer, super easy calls to Dem frequent voters and they need our help!

Probably should have included that! Hopefully this works, it's with Maxwell Frost for Congress: https://www.mobilize.us/frostforcongress/event/562634/

I wonder if there’s a way to add an email to the Senate and Congress contacts. Then we could easily paste and cut letters and send them along as simply as making a phone call which I prefer not to do. I realize that in some cases, we must go onto their sites to send an email which, unfortunately, is often times too time consuming. Kudos to all of you that make these calls every day.

You can absolutely do that just by going to your MOCs' official websites. They all have an "email me" tab, then you can copy and paste there! Just as effective as calling!

Thank you, thank you, thank you. I learn so much from you. As an Australian who did grad school in the USA I am very concerned for the beautiful American ppl. I did over-emphasise Iowa and I see the perspective you bring, immediately. A rising tide lifts all boats and you sure bring a rising tide. THANK YOU!!!! May America be blessed with the full realisation of the ideals for which it was settled. ❤️‍🔥

Thanks for the message today. I was just driving home and hearing on the radio about Iowa and Trump. I was very worried. But you put it things in perspective.

Don't know where I got this quote - probably from you, Jessica. Anyway, it is one of my favorites, and I quote it often to others.....

Worry is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it won't get you anywhere.

I stole it from a lyric in one of my step-father's songs. I'll have to ask him if he made it up or borrowed it from someone else. Likely the latter. (:

I love your last line so much!!! It has been my goal from day one to tank the ratings of The Abominable

Showman, if for no other reason than his s--t show is old and boring. No new moves, no new info, no imagination, just the same old rant and roil. On aesthetic grounds alone this bunch has to go and my focus is on making that happen. As for press salivation over Iowa, well, they must not have enough to do. But we do and we're rolling up our sleeves, putting our heads down, and working. Thanks for the encouraging post and for keeping all of this in some kind of perspective. Especially appreciated on a gray Tuesday in January. And while I'm on it, I just wanted to say that Martin Luther King Day is my absolute favorite holiday. How wonderful to have a day devoted to peace and justice. Now that is something to celebrate!

I totally agree that watching the media drool over the news that Trump won Iowa was irritating. I also resent the term "Evangelical Christians" being his biggest supporter. I wish the term was conservative Christian. I am an evangelical Christian who is definitely not a Trump supporter and neither are the many evangelical Christians I know. I hate being lumped into that group.

You know, I've been thinking about this a lot recently. It's sad for Christians AND for Evangelicals that their names have been co-opted by such evil people. I will try to look for other phrases--I think Christian Nationalist is best.

Thank you! It better describes their "religion" which is more about protecting their "values". It is not about following the tenets of Christ's teachings.
