Hi all, and happy Sunday! Here’s your weekly dose of excellent news and surprise victories! As always, there are probably a few more than you expected. Remember, you can take some credit for all the good stuff that’s happening—it’s pressure from regular folks like you that’s helping to bring about the wins we’re seeing.

Jessica, I don’t care what anybody says about Gavin Newsom but he is by far, one of the most effective governors we have ever had! So important that he has filed this lawsuit against big oil as they continue to pollute our waterways and our bodies. I live in a town with a refinery in Northern CA. We have had 3 incidences already this year. I am on a committee that has formally approached the refinery, the county health department, the state and the FBI. We are being listened to. I am not one of the leads by any stretch, but participate as a very concerned citizen.
An update on Angola, the children were transferred out of Angola on 9/15, but the state is still appealing that decision. If the state’s appeal is successful, the kids will be forced to go back to Angola. Call Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards (225)342-7015 or (866)366-1121 to comment.

Make sure you, your loved ones and friends are all registered to vote! You can go to https://www.vote.org to check your status. Second Saturday September 23 is "Ballot Drop Day" for those of us living or studying abroad, this is the day that our ballots for upcoming elections must be sent to us by our voting states. We get our ballots 45 days before the election so that we can be sure to get our votes back in time to be counted! If you know someone who is living abroad send them to https://votefromabroad.org for more information.

Oregon's terrific Senator Jeff Merkley says 'fossil gas' instead of 'natural gas.' Any chance you would use this term, too?
