I am wondering why Mark Kelly in Arizona ( whose wife works tirelessly, despite her gunshot injuries, and with his support, for gun safety) does not sign on to the Ban on Assault Weapons bill. Would support of the bill so jeopardize his chance for reelection?
Mark Kelly is a moderate in the true sense of the word (not a cynical centrist like Manchin and Sinema). But he's also a smart and empathetic senator so I believe he'll eventually come around with enough pressure.
I had exactly the same reaction. Dem voters in AZ really need to bring the pressure. It's too bad that he doesn't step up on his own, especially given Gabby's ongoing fight.

Lots and lots of news, Jessica!! I love that the education systens in Oklahoma have basically said NO to Praeger U’s curriculum. Yay for us in CA! I don’t care what people think about Gavin Newsom and a few of his gaffes. He really comes through in protecting voters rights, women’s rights, and gun laws in our state.
I have those 6 Senators on my notepad to call tomorrow although, calling Sinema seems to be a big waste of time. The only one not up for 2024 reelection is Kelly and yes, it blows my mind that he hasn’t endorsed the ban! So thank you for what you do.

It is a source of constant amazement for me. I truly don’t know. We need AZ residents to ask him that every single day.

Great list this week. I'm so happy to hear Senator Cantwell is finally co-sponsoring the assault weapons ban. I called many times on that one.
