Hi, all, and happy Sunday! I’m still on vacation, but so many good things happened last week that I had to publish this post anyway. God knows we all need a boost! So please, enjoy this long (but not comprehensive) list of our many wins over the last seven days and then share it with a friend. Maybe two!
Among all this great news, I especially like the lawsuit filed in Wisconsin's Supreme Court. After writing over 100 postcards to elect Judge Protasiewicz onto the court, it was worth the effort to learn how to spell her name correctly!
So glad Theressa mentioned Ohio. Tuesday vote to keep the requirement to change the Ohio State Constitution at 50% instead of raising it to 60% will make the Fall vote to add abortion protection to the Ohio State Constitution so much more attainable. The vote is a major Ohio bell weather for the 2024 election.
Should have mentioned that CEMC has been very easy to work with during installation of both solar arrays, one on preexisting panels and one on a barn roof. Did not expect this curve ball.
The next question about the California train is WHERE did designers place the 445 acres of solar panels? If they were built on cropland or pasture or forest, their ecological destruction greatly offsets their help fighting climate change. They should be built over impervious surfaces that create urban heat banks; e.g. parking lots preexisting roofs; other impervious surfaces so as not to impeded rainfall absorption. The benefit of shade under the solar panels greatly offsets any loss of electrical output. Another benefit is derived if solar panels funnel rainfall into cisterns and other reservoirs to allow reuse, even if some loss in electrical output. Solar panels on YOUR roof help in every way. Do you trap and direct rainfall into reusable surface water patterns?
Bad news: CEMC reduced my reimbursement for excess electricity generation (avoided cost) by 33%, claiming that the market for wholesale electricity allowed them to buy at 1/3 less. Since they buy from Duke Energy, have any of you customers of Duke Energy notice a 1/3 reduction in YOUR electric bills?
Wonderful news summary to start off the week. Thank you so much and let’s all continue to Carry Water, Chop Wood!
Yes let’s!
Neat rainbow. Thanks, Jess's kid.
And thanks for all the good news, Jess.
I had a lovely sunset this evening: https://www.flickr.com/photos/mimbrava/53099071785/
Thank you wood and thank you water, I feel wonderful after reading your roundup!
I’m so glad, Bess.

Yes exactly. Our hard work is going to pay off big time there.
Thank you for the good news, Jessica. I appreciate your taking the time on vacation to buoy our spirits.
It buoys mine, too, to do so.
Fabulous news, Jessica, as always! Hope your vacation has been fun. The kid captured the rainbow just in the nick of time. I will be heading to Palm Springs with my oldest daughter, on Wednesday. She is turning 40 so it’s quite a milestone for her and for me too. I just keep getting younger!🤩
Have a great time and happy birthday to your kiddo!
Go Taiwan!
Your kid is a gifted photog — love the rainbow !

Once again you bring delight into our day, Jessica!

So important to see the filing in WI. As we work on Ohio, move towards VA elections and whatever comes next, it is good to see our work in action.
Lovely photo
