So much great news. Thank you, Jessica. I'm so glad to hear about the legal team that includes Marc Elias. And I was happily surprised to hear about "Evangelicals for Harris." I am grateful to the Black Men Vote PAC and the work they're doing. I love the Shepard Fairey poster of Kamala Harris.
Jessica- I vote in East Hampton and made sure to contribute to the cup challenge. We are winning. Yeah! Also, there are two sides to the congestion pricing issue in NY. While, as proposed, the initiative would reduce congestion in midtown Manhattan, it would increase pollution in the outer boroughs. And, there are many other environmental impacts on those not living in Manhattan that were not thoroughly reviewed. Happy to discuss if you would like.
The federal government is processing citizenship requests at the fastest clip in a decade, moving rapidly through a backlog that built up during the Trump administration and the coronavirus pandemic.

Charlotte, NC has one of the 2 US Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS) offices in the state. (I think there are 80+ across the US). Our local chapter of League of Women Voters partners with USCIS to have volunteers at each and every ceremony. Lately each week they host 3 ceremonies that naturalize 60 - 70 new citizens (usually from 30+ countries of origin).
I helped a friend study for her citizenship test. She and her husband applied for citizenship in May, got scheduled for the interview in late June and had their ceremony in late July.
I have a question that you may be able to address.
I have been talking to many people in Philadelphia – – the woman who works at the post office, the security guards at my apartment building, A young woman in nursing school, anybody waiting in a lobby. Although many people are enthusiastic about voting for Harris and Walz, But many of these – – all probably between the ages of 20 and 35 say they don’t know enough about who to vote for. Many of them are quite happy to talk to me at length. And very often I hear, “ I need to find out more.”
I don’t feel that I can suggest the New York Times or MSNBC or platforms like that. They simply do not watch or read these.
They are not a group – – I don’t live in the same neighborhood or go to the same churches.
How do we reach these young people?
Joy Hockman.
I know you are busy like crazy but do you have any thoughts?
I am thinking of preparing a paper of facts. Keeping it to one page.
Always enjoy your Celebration List. The one that brought a smile to my face was the story about sheep being used in a solar field in Texas. Besides being positive in lowering emissions from mowing, it's fun to know a simple solution of using a domestic animal to mow the lawn is making sheep happy.
Every week, when I read the list of what I call, "The Things That Went Right," I almost cry with gratitude for these positive achievements by my fellow Americans ( and progressive others) and I offer my heartfelt thanks to you, Jess, for creating this unbeatable way to start the week off on a high note.
OMG I am sitting in a quiet waiting room at the doctor's office and just audibly snerted at the 'full-throated 🤢' video. Loud enough that a lady across from me turned to glance at me. Holy crap 😁😆🤣
Sometimes I hold off reading this until mid-week, when I'm reminded that nearly 50% of the country appears to still support the Orange Stain, and need a boost to my psyche. This is that boost!
I am curious how folks address the "how are we going to pay for this" question? Any bullet points versus lengthy explanations. Billions and Millions are starting to feel scary even to me. Thanks
I'm assuming this would be a combination of ways Biden has already talked about--largely closing tax loopholes that currently benefit only the richest among us and giant corporations. Also continuing to fund the IRS, which is finding tons of money from, again, rich tax evaders. Also allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices is a massive cost saver. But I'd guess taxing the rich is a huge part of it.
All wonderful -- but WOW, that Tik Tok!! Had to watch it twice and now my stomach hurts from laughing.
Omg I know. Just brilliant!
Thank you as always Jess for keeping us inspired, informed and engaged! And loving the TikToks!
Also, for anyone who has friends and family who want a primer on Harris-Walz’s credentials and accomplishments - here’s some helpful info! https://open.substack.com/pub/democratsdeliver/p/kamala-and-the-coach?r=51f18&utm_medium=ios
Wonderful thank you!

They don’t know enough about Kamala Harris and Tim Walls ✨? Or about candidates down ballot?
Ok. Good suggestion for my white paper.
