Dear Jess. I am in Elko, Nevada tonight, en route to West Yellowstone, Montana tomorrow. A year ago, I asked you to join our Wednesday Zoom for Seniors Taking Action and you said yes. That yes made me believe that I had agency in this world. Thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️
This was a fantastic list! Thank you! it reminds us that even in the worst week, good things can still happen here! And even more than that, seeing individuals and small groups do things to resist and make a difference are remarkable and inspiring! So glad you could get your kid to camp! Thank you!
It is hard not to be disheartened. So I decided to figure out my plans for "Good Trouble Lives On" on July 17th and make a list of friends to contact to get them involved. too!
There is a search box in the upper left just above the map where you can enter your zip code.
At first blush there appeared to be just two events for Charlotte NC. Curiously, one showed that it ran from 7:30 am to 6:00 pm. But in actuality, the link took you to Mobilize where our Indivisible chapter had listed all the pop-up protests around town. (We have been doing them on different days and times at different busy intersections and a few overpasses, but next we they are all consolidated on July 17th). We have 15 different sites and some of them are doing double-duty with protests for both the morning and afternoon rush hours. This was real morale booster for me!
This afternoon, I am planning to reach out to my peeps to try and get them all on board to do at least one protest for Good Trouble Lives On!
If we all convinced a few friends to join us, it would be massive!
I'm in red state Missouri with Josh Hawley being my senator. He ran ad after ad to not touch medicaid, but voted yes on the BIG BULLSHIT Bill. Missouri voters didn't show up for the last election. I'm very hopeful that the chaos in Washington will turn these registered non voters into voters!
I appreciate the "Celebrate This" section very much. I often wonder if other much-followed folks on Substack think about how important it is to consistently and regularly point out the good stuff (no matter how small some of them may seem) during this time. Folks are good about pointing out all of the dangerous stuff going on, but the daily impact on their followers who are bombarded with this does take a significant mental and emotional toil.
I also wish more Substack post warnings used the word "our" or "everyone's" instead of "yours" (ex. Elon Musk stole YOUR data....etc). It may seem like just semantics, but my first response internally is always "it's YOUR data (or whatever) too, Subtack writer!" and that also takes a mental and emotional toil after months of it and with years to go. If we truly are a collective of working against the corruption, depravity, immorality, and all that is wrong, then it just makes sense to me to use language that reflects that WE.
So, Jess, I appreciate both your inclusion of positives AND the fact that you use "we" language more often than not. Thank you.
Your writing, your voice, is a light in the darkness. I have told so many people about your column. Thank you for being beacon! I truly appreciate all that you do!
Reading Extra Extra is probably my favorite part of the week. Thanks for all that you do.
Glad I could get it to at least a few of you before you went to bed tonight! (:
Jess there is absolutely no reason that you should feel bad for taking time for your familiy!!
BTW, I'm exhausted just thinking about all that travel complicated by the holiday weekend along ith potential weather-related delays!

Thank you, as always, for this weekly list. Honestly, I was concerned about you when I hadn’t seen it yet today. Please take care, Jess.
I know how much people count on the Sunday newsletter. I felt terrible. I couldn’t get it out earlier.
