Hi, all, and happy Sunday! I know it’s been an especially good week when Substack tells me—as it did today— that my “Extra! Extra” draft is close to exceeding the allowable email length limit. Enjoy this long list; let it lift you up, delight you, and sooth your worried soul.
Thanks for making my morning a happy one with SO MUCH good news, Jessica. That the MO Supreme Court said that a ballot initiative to codify the right to birth control and abortion in the state could move forward is amazing. Also love those singing dancing firefighters from S Africa! 🙏

The first story and last video brought me to tears, and 💙 every story in between .
Unable to share link to entire article ,for some reason, but wanted to share about trans ultramarathon runner, and history teacher at Los Angeles high school ,running from LA to Orlando. Wow !Appears there is limited press and hopefully more will come now that Cal has crossed the finish line. Cal helped to organize multiple 5k’s in major cities along the cross-country route, including in Orlando, that brought awareness and raised money for orgs supporting the LGQBT community. 100,000k raised already from TRANContinental Run.

Cal Dobbs, a history teacher at a Los Angeles high school, took a sabbatical in March to fulfill a dream he first thought of when he was 10 years old — to run across the continental United States.
While the desire to complete the 2,700-mile journey had always been there, it was the wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation being proposed and later signed in conservative states that inspired Dobbs, 26, to undertake the run “as an act of resistance,” he said.
Last year, Dobbs became the first known transgender person to join the ranks of prestigious hikers who’ve completed the triple crown, meaning he hiked all of the Appalachian, Pacific Crest and Continental Divide trails.
Ahead of his cross-country run, Dobbs picked a route that took him through many of the states that have passed laws targeting LGBTQ+ people including Texas, Mississippi and Alabama.
He entered Florida on July 1 — the day multiple laws signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis took effect, including those that ban gender-affirming care for minors, restrict discussion of personal pronouns in schools, target drag shows and criminalize the use of certain bathrooms that don’t align with people’s sex at birth.

This weekly roundup of good news is THE BEST!!!!! So needed, so necessary. Once again...THANK YOU!
Thank you for this list of good news! Now, I need to go back and check out the links you provided.
I've always wondered why the "news" has to be the reporting of the worst things happening in America or around the world.🤷🏼♀️
I can imagine a different attitude, a feeling of more confidence, if the American people heard that more positive things were happening.
