Me, too, Wendy!! At 86 and a dyed in the wool FDR Democrat, I am more hopeful each day to read these good news and hopeful message of wisdom and truth! Hope is the anchor of the SOUL. I read that somewhere. :)
Well GOOD luck to us BOTH! I have had 4 careers in this life, all of which benefitted a bunch of minorities and I don't plan to QUIT before voting again for Joe/Kamala and all DEMS on my ballot. I Am so disgusted by this world of crooks and liars selling their lies to so many American voters, I spend EVERY DAY making it known to those I encounter how I feel. I may lose some votes for our REPUBLIC by ignorant people who think AGE is valueless, but so be it. Anyway, I'm glad I found you on this Twitt machine! I will keep up with you from now on! Love, Martha, the BLUE REAL PATRIOT, like you are...
I think that’s automatic, no? Someone else told me about an AI tool that will imitate my voice and read the newsletter but I’m a little squeamish about it…
The Play button is at the top of today's post. And Jess, I don't know if Substack authors opt in or if it is automatic. With Matt Stoller of BIG, I wrote him a few times about adding that feature. Eventually he did!
I don't know what America did to deserve Jessica and this newsletter, but we are deeply grateful for it...
"65% of Americans say that climate change policy will be an important factor in their vote for president this year."
That would mean that 2/3 of voters would be choosing Biden, because Trump has no climate change policy. (Or any other policies, for that matter.) Alas, not very likely...
I always feel more informed after reading your columns - but especially Extra! Extra!
Today I found out about Climate Cabinet (which I had never heard of) and got to read the article in the Atlantic and the one about Iceland's new president, amongst others.
I always enjoy reading, even if it's just skimming, all the good news in a week. It really does inspire me.
I have a request. I pay attention to the little axes denoting results of citizen action, and frequently I don't recognize them as anything I've known about either through Chop Wood, Carry Water or Chop Wood, Carry the World. Could you tell us in general, or maybe pick an example or two, of exactly how people like me have helped bring about good results?
And another request. As the election nears, I'd find it helpful to have a quick list, or maybe a link, to key ways to reach out to help raise the level of turnout (thanks for introducing me to Movement Voter Project and Activate America). A short list of best campaigns / organizations to donate to would be helpful. I'm thinking less of myself than others to whom I might pass on more information like the above.
It could be that I'm missing something or some things in plain sight. If so, skip an answer and I'll get the message!
Try this one, Frank. https://www.fieldteam6.org/. You can find it regularly touted on a Substack called "Notes from Baghdad by the Sea", by Daniel Solomon. It's MY go-to, for what it's worth.
Frank,Simon Rosenberg, long-term Dem strategist and one who correctly predicted there would be no red wave in ‘22, has a list. Scroll towards the bottom.⬇️
Looove all the good news! I can't help but think what dumasses MAGAs are though - they want to ban abortion and get rid of contraception to make more (white) babies BUT (probably) won't let EPA do its thing in protecting against miscarriages.
And they don’t even realize that women of color will also have no contraception or the ability to get an abortion. Do they think women of color will not be having babies or something? When they dumbed down the education system to try to control the intelligence of voters they forgot to exempt Republicans from the dumbing down, as evidenced by these laws they are making that will actually make more messes for everyone than help anyone.
I just spend the morning catching up on news and as usual, it was pretty horrific. And then I finished with this amazing list which was a balm for my soul and reminded me once again, we can do this. 🩷
When you hit the share button, Substack generates the link you posted. If people click through that link, Substack knows that you referred them. And depending on the substack, you may receive a benefit. I was unaware of this until I shared one substack on another substack and got notified by the one I shared that my membership had been extended by a month because of "referrals" I had made. I was scratching my head about that until I remembered my previous "share".
Based on the message you receive I would be willing to bet that's the issue. There is a work around - just cut everything after the ? in the URL listing. (You can also copy and paste what is showing up in the URL search bar -it's the same thing)). It will still take anyone who clicks the link to Jessica's post, but I don't believe it will trip FB filter/trap.
Please test it out and let me know if that solved the issue!
I needed to read this extraordinary long list of good news today. Thank you for your hard work. You have boosted my hope gauge tremendously.

Martha, you and I are just a year apart, and I believe as you do about hope.

I’m so glad, Wendy!
There’s an option on Substack to have a robotic voice recite your letter, for days you don’t have time. It is great to see all the positives!

Any bets on whether Bannon actually reports?
God knows with that one.

The linked acticle about Iceland's president mentioned that she had done several TED Talks , so I searched for them on the TED website (https://www.ted.com//search?q=Halla%20Tomasdottir) and watched one of them and it was excellent and well worth your time: (https://www.ted.com/talks/halla_tomasdottir_use_your_voice_vote_and_wallet_for_climate_action)
Wow, Jessica ! Just read the Atlantic article and I’m already cheered up. More Justice. Hooray! Onward.

Hi, Frank! Here's my document where I list the top ten places I rrecommend donating to--especially the top three https://docs.google.com/document/d/13pvzT4gB7FK7n0O_3p6_ymrBaSIlpB3YbkuZCjNXGKw/edit
As for ways to help us win, I try to put one in the newsletter every day!
Postcards to Swing States is also one I send friends to.
You’ll send the postcards out in October but you receive them now so my friends have all summer to write them! No excuses that they are too busy. Ha!

So nice to read all the good news, warms my blood to see there is some sanity in these crazy times. Thank You!!

Thank you for discussing and listing all the good news👏🏽👏🏽.
I appreciate your upbeat approach.
Loved it!!!
This is what FB just did, 2 times over, when I shared your Substack. I am very angry. "Why this happened
It looks like you tried to get likes, follows, shares or video views in a misleading way.
