I needed this! Got into a Reddit troll trying to poke holes in my argument that protests and organized resistance "do anything." Was feeling bummed and then I got notification that you published today's edition. Feeling slightly better about the state of the world.
When I meet a troll like that, my first impulse is to get into it with them and tell them what's what. My second impulse is to leave them to their useless mutterings of doom and put my energy into proving them wrong instead. I'm trying to favor my second impulse.
It's super hard. This weirdo kept on refuting my evidence. Led me to think that all they wanted was to cause issues. There were a ton of threads going on and he chose mine. Oh well.
The protests help us to realize we are not alone. It brings more people under the tent and gets them involved. The protests show courage and that gives courage to others. It shows elected officials how we feel and lets them know we have their backs. Hopefully the people attending the protests will take other actions to fight against the regime. And once we get to 3.5% of the population participating in sustained non-violent protests, we bring about change. And they're fun!
Facts are irrelevant to many trolls - don’t waste your time. They hate the same people “he” does so move on and let them live in their land of denial. They can pretend they don’t know the “truth” and will have to answer to their grandchildren for being complicit in the fall of Democracy.
I think the trolls want to keep us occupied with them, so we can't concentrate on doing anything positive. I laugh at their remarks with an emoji, and try to avoid getting caught up and wasting my time over their nonsense.
What would we do without you Jessica? Thank you for your kind and compassionate leadership. I doubt that you know, but I hope that you do , how much you mean to me and to do many. I live in Washington DC and I don’t have representation in Congress and so I never have anyone to call when you give the scripts and the numbers, but I read every day and I look forward to it every day and you keep me feeling optimistic and hopeful and engaged in the fight. You are what is great about this country and I’m so grateful to you for your bravery and your leadership. In peace ☮️
Also this—In his autobiography, You Can't Be Neutral on a Moving Train, historian and activist Howard Zinn writes: "To be hopeful in bad times is not just foolishly romantic. It is based on the fact that human history is a history not only of cruelty, but also of compassion, sacrifice, courage, kindness."
That was beautiful Jessica, all the positive news, and then that heartbreaking but hopeful story at the end. Thank you for always giving your readers strength, and hope to keep moving forward. :)
That was a heart felt video and uplifting. We can’t forget that all DICTATORS start their reign of terror with disappearing marginalized people. It’s already spreading.
Brilliant video. How can we support this young man in achieving his dream of becoming a video storyteller? Has ha posted this in IG or Bluesky, etc. Together we can make it go viral!

“Don’t feed the trolls!” some of the best advice I ever got.

There is a concerted effort to demoralize the resistance. Don't allow it. Block and move on.
Yes, definitely! Just read this article this morning on it: https://ladylibertie.substack.com/p/the-black-pill-society-is-coming

Thank you so much for sharing and writing. I don’t read regularly but I will now. Keep it up.
Thanks Wendy!
Also, I wanted to share this Facebook post from the Houston police Department officers union on the afternoon of the protest, June 14

So great - thanks for sharing that!
I trust you.
Well you’ve done it again—found more good news than I would have thought possible in a dark time. And that video was so loving, so moving. Thank you.

I tagged his Instagram account. Unfortunately I’ve heard that he may have been detained by ICE himself. Looking into it
