Thanks for the uplifting lists of accomplishments and other positive news concerning our democracy. I love TC in LA's piece"The Wind Has Changed". It is so well written and also inspiring. It does seem like something has changed for the positive for We The People and we must continue to stay informed and do good stuff every day to get us past the trying times we appear to be emerging from. We cannot rest on our laurels by any means though. Thanks again, Jess!
Thank you Jessica for such an uplifting and empowering read! Thats Another Fine Messβ essay, The Wind of Change, not only gives me hope, but lays out a path where our democracy not only survives but flourishes despite Trump and his MAGA minions.
Americans have grown tired of the MAGA antics. MTGβs and LBβs desperate plays for attention have stopped being funny. Comerβs public displays of stupidity are getting old. Theyβre embarrassing and pathetic. Just look at all the pathetic people who have been churned out by Trumpβs machinations: Giuliani, Vance, Weisselberg, Cohen, Barr, Meadows. Okay, Iβm not listing them all. You get the gist.
Not even FOX News can stomach it anymore. Trumpβs lying, orange, stanky (rumor has it) ass has been locked into a courtroom seat all week. He doesnβt look that attractive to many of his people now. I believe many Trump supporters are trying to quietly back away without drawing attention to themselves i.e. saving face. Sort of like MAGA Mike seeing that maybe supporting Russia is not the wisest career move right now and begging the Democrats to throw him a life preserver. I admit, I do get great enjoyment from this spectacle.
Perhaps, this election interference trial (I refuse to call it the hush money trial which just makes it sound seedy but defensible) has finally put a damper on everything. Of course, there will always be those few who refuse to admit defeat. I think many of them are my neighbors here in Alabama unfortunately.
A civil war is looking less and less likely thank goodness. Jessica, if you can convince this Alabamian living in this deeply red state that hope is warranted, then youβve done your job well. This doesnβt mean I will stop fighting (because Alabama is more backwards than ever), but Iβm forever grateful for everyone else that is fighting along side me.
well said. My daughter moved to Huntsville and does the news on ch 54, so I feel like I get some of the AL news here in AZ. I was so happy to hear about Cheryl Lands βLandslideβ! That was some good news out of Alabama! My daughter, Sedona, is moving to PA soon so she will be in the thick of things there. Hang in there and grab every win!
Thank you! Marilyn Landsβ win in Huntsville foreshadows what is to come in this country in November. I believe it was Supreme Court Justice Alito that reluctantly wrote that women have power. Iβm banking on it!
Most definitely! Who would have thought Arizona, a swing state, would be dragged back to the dark ages? I expect this from Alabama. These Republicans have let power go to their heads. They couldnβt stop at repealing anti-trust laws and cutting taxes for the wealthy strengthening the power of corporate America and such (i.e. just getting insanely rich off the powerless), they had to go and attack womenβs, minoritiesβ, and LGBTQ+ civil rights. Itβs disgusting and disgraceful, and there will be hell to pay! I have two young nieces whose father is a Republican. He may not fight for their rights, but I will.
Especially us perimenopausal women! Weβre already angry and this misogynistic bullshit these Republican politicians are spouting is weaponizing angry women all across America. You reap what you sow!
Definitely! I donβt think they thought this all the way through, especially here in 1864 Arizona. Whoosh! We are PISSED and sick of their ridiculous sh*t! I was fortunate enough to have my reproductive years shielded by Roe but my daughter doesnβt have that reassurance. I fight for her and my son!
Re JC's thought on comparing the world and the upheaval to a ship in the 'doldrums' where the winds and waves change rapidly. I suggest we are in a period where the old 'order' is breaking up, and the miserable political, populism, etc situation is people's fearful reaction to the cracking of their world (which rather worked nicely for them all their lives heretofor). This breakup of the 'old world' is always disruptive. Yes, I dearly hope the current Trumpian/populism will not be in control for (gag) 4 years but as other disruptions have shown, we can only 'speak our truth' to lies and wait it out with hope and faith in human evolution toward a better place. I read somewhere that the tipping point for positive change is 10% of the population. This evolutionary process is referred to in my birth-religion as the 'Kingdom of God'.
Thank you for all the positive news! Today I sent a message to my representative, Nick Langworthy NY -23rd District, who voted NO on Ukraine how despicable I thought his vote was to the people of NY State. He voted no along with the suck- up Elise Stefanik.
Aw, I always loved watching their friendly banter. God, I miss Barack but really happy to see Joe doing so much more than I ever thought possible!
I agree.
Yep!

Agree! They have no idea the power that will be unleashed upon them!

You and me both!

Thanks! I havenβt seen so much good news in a long time. Loved the clip of Obama and Joe. What a great team!
Yay glad you enjoyed!
Beautiful - Jess, your latest is just what we need to lift us up!
Thanks, Casey. You all lift me up so muchβitβs the least I can do!
βRep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL)Β filed an amendmentΒ to name Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greeneβs office the βNeville Chamberlain Room.β
Does MTG even know who Neville
Chamberlain was?
Of course not. Sheβll google it privately, though.
The clip was great. You just can't fake a good sense of humor and camaraderie. Thanks.
I agree.
Lots of good things happening! We can help to make difference!
We can and we do!

Good for you, Robin! Thank you!
I love these uplifting Sunday posts. Thank you.
Youβre welcome!
Fabulous news all the way around, Jessica!
I did try the link to Californiaβs wanton waters and it didnβt go through. Is there another way to get to that?
Yes, loved seeing Obama and Joe together again and the end was so funny. π
Ooops yeah that link does seem to be down now. Here's another one. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/first-state-water-board-probation-170902989.html
Thx!
GO Bennie Thompson!
I am feeling more optimistic lately. Not slacking a bit in working for democracy though. You help!
