On March 28, the Rutgers University Senate passed a resolution calling for the universities in the Big Ten Academic Alliance to form a "Mutual Defense Compact" in order to protect and defend "Academic Freedom, Institutional Integrity and the Research Enterprise."

This is amazing! I am trying to work with some higher Ed, lobbying and advocacy groups to see if we can get a coalition of college and university president/chancellors to stand up for each other with a unifying voice against the Trump administration anti-higher education policies.

Yes, please!! I’ve contacted 3 University of NC schools encouraging them to build an ACC coalition. We need the Big Ten to help us along!

I am very excited to see that there are other higher education efforts out there. I will let everyone know what I find out with my particular effort.

Received this in response to my email to University of Rhode Island.

“Thank you for your note. President Parlange indeed meets regularly with his New England counterparts and is active in the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities. We are committed to upholding our foundational values and are monitoring the impacts of federal actions on our University very closely and as they evolve.”

Chuck Schumer filing documents for Re-election in three years proves he is either tone deaf to the Dem party or he doesnt care. Either way, he needs to go

Ugh did he? Well, I’m hoping that AOC primaries him and that’s the end of that because she would definitely win.

My question is how Schumer responds to the Shapiro family assassination attack. If he is not apoplectic then just another reason to quit...seriously quit.

Are 80, I was one of the Sackets Harbor NY 1000 who marched to Tom Homan's house, & 2 days later, the family wrongly seized by ICE was released. Trump's trying to trap immigrants by firing immigration judges & cutting legal aid funds for asylum seekers. This delays the process of cooperating in a longer effort to attain legal status before ICE catches up to them. Roland Van Deusen, Clayton NY.

So, so, SO needed! Reading that the backlash to ending Social Security phone lines forced DOGE to abandon its plan keeps the call-my-representatives fire burning, even though every time I contact them (all Republicans) I get a gross canned email that says absolutely nothing of value back.

That's absurd. If you actually read the press release, it says they are advancing AI-based computational models of toxicity, cell lines and organoid toxicity testing (aka organ-on-chip systems) in a laboratory setting. All of these technologies already exist and are routinely used in translational research.
