I'd like to piggy back on the New York school bus news. Our local Walla Walla Washington Public Schoos bus fleet purchased three electric buses last year and with the help of a recent $3.7 million grant from the EPA and a $1 million grant from the Department of Ecology, the district placed an order for 15 more electric buses last week. The new buses will start arriving in spring 2025. As part of the Clean School Bus Program, the diesel buses that are replaced will be destroyed. Once the new buses arrive, the district will have 18 electric buses out of a 44 bus fleet and they are working on more funding to go completely electric.
OMG this almost made me cry. I try to cover every single electric school bus item I can because I think this is such a meaningful thing that REALLY TOUCHES individuals' lives. Thrilled to hear about Walla Walla! I f you see a news article about it please forward it so I can put it in the next EE!
This Extra Extra was inspiring as usual. I especially appreciate the piece on Guatemala. I read the link and was amazed and delighted at how the BIDEN ADMINISTRATION is getting seriously into the weeds about addressing the roots of migration. That’s what it’s going to take. A new Guatemala President focused on ending corruption was needed and the US was key in preserving the space for a fair election.
Received from Activate America yesterday in an email:
That’s why we’re thrilled to be co-hosting a virtual volunteer recruitment rally with Heather Cox Richardson called “Why Democracy Needs You.” Join us on Friday, April 12th, at noon Pacific / 3 PM Eastern, as we learn how pivotal our collective actions can be, and then break out into smaller groups to learn about key races and opportunities to make an impact.
Wanted to let you know that I, per usual, forwarded this to my small group of friends (but who might have MORE friends, right?!) and your first item was/is what I'm centering this cycle's GOTV letter-writing around: the idea that every single vote DOES MATTER. Thank you for all your hard work and for giving me something extra real and extra fun to add to my letters!
Good Morning Jessica! I was really happy, ECSTATIC to see Good News for the week you were in Europe! You mentioned a candidate, Pat Kemp who is running for House Representative CD 15 in Florida. I am President of the Central Pasco County Democratic Club and we are in that district. The one she is running for is 3 counties, Hillsbourgh, Pasco and Polk. Pasco is very Red, but we are turning it Blue! I have sent a couple of emails to ask if you could talk by Zoom to our County Democrats. Our area of Pasco is one of the fastest growing areas in Florida. I know you are beyond busy, but it would be so great to have you visit us, through Zoom! Also I am part of Heather’s Herd and you spoke to us in January. I just love your wisdom and positive attitude! We need to inspire Democrats here to step out of the shade and into the sunshine to get Democratic elected! Just give us 1 hour anytime you choose to speak to us and I will fill the room with Great Democrats❤️❤️❤️
You are a wonder, Jessica! Thank you for all of this great news.
Good catch-up!
Unanticipated, bonus! So good

Thank you so much for bringing all of this good stuff to light! I'm a blue dot in very red sw VA. And it is easy to get discouraged sometimes.

Exactly. It's only those who don't take the time to investigate who think Biden is doing "nothing" on immigration.

Oh fantastic! Glad I could help!
Thanks for posting the long list of wins from last week. You’re right. The more I read, the happier I felt.
Just wait til later today! There's more! (:
This fuels me for another week!
You've still got the regular issue coming out later today! THIS week's wins!
Progress!! Thank you!!
Of course!
Thank you! I never understand while people convicted of a crime lose their right to vote. They are still citizens and have a stake in issues.
Absolutely!
