Hi, all, and happy Sunday! We hit the Substack length limit again this week! Isn’t it crazy? A lot of awful stuff is happening, but we are also seeing a ton of progress. The long list below is proof. So take a moment away from doom-scrolling and enjoy all the ways that the needle moved the
After reading all the accomplishments of the past week, how could anyone question the Biden administration ability to get things done! If only congress would get in line.
A conservative family member wrote me last night, saying "people don't realize how dangerous that man (Joe Biden) is." She's right-he is dangerous, for the forces of reaction and oppression.
Happy Holidays to you and yours, Jess. Thanks for another amazing year of KICK-ASS activism, HARD WORK, so many thousands of words typed, phone calls made, and encouragement to all of us, your fans, and co-activists. Get some rest. Eat some pie, enjoy your family. And Lots of love to all of you on this substack group who keep working and working and working!! In spite of the slog, and the craziness, I am encouraged and hopeful. All because of all of you!!!
It's about time that Columbia & NYU loses those tax breaks. With billion dollar endowments? And the fact that Columbia covered up Hadden sexually assaulting patients for DECADES...
To note, over 150,000 K of those signatures for the FL abortion access amendment were Republicans!
Also, DeSantis has seen the (political) light and is now seeking to reclaim 30million from IRA funds targeted for home energy rebates that he had originally vetoed.
Great summary, Jessica! Very encouraging! Thank you for all your work. You and "the other Jessica," Jessica Valenti, really are warriors. Jessica unfortunately is constantly having to report on the negative, one topic only, don't know how she does it without exploding.
I'll add that even though the Dems lost the city council race in my district here in Albuquerque, another district had a runoff and my candidate won! I met her at the state NAACP convention, said I'd volunteer for her. She was even smeared by her opponent (also a Dem, sadly) and still won! She'll be the first black councilwoman from that district and she's also a single mom and a DV survivor!!! She was endorsed by Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood, the LGBTQ community, several unions. Nichole Rogers, www.nicholerogers.com. Cheers!
Hi Jessica, Same old stuff, phone banking mostly. Last day I lit dropped using the MiniVan app. Cannot stand MiniVan because it organizes streets alphabetically rather than geographically so you're driving around in circles wasting a lot of time. Prefer the old paper turf lists!
Thank you Jenifer, every bit of good news helps this old mm, well, whatever, get a good nights sleep. I tell everyone that I hear complain about nothing to do, I refer them to your post. Till next time, I hope you can get some sleep too.
Oh that’s great. I’ll send the batch to you and you can edit at will (there are only 7). The really cool thing about this story is that Cattail Corners is a beloved neighborhood spot. People were afraid the proposed project was going to be some kind of building monstrosity which it definitely is not. Better yet, the kid’s section of the public library has a hands on exhibit demonstrating how the renovated wetlands will work!
Hi Jessica, I love these Sunday lists. Is there a way to send pictures to you? I took a bunch of the President Biden Infrastructure project here in Missoula Montana. Since my link wasn’t effective, I figured pictures were worth a thousand words 😊
It's really irritating that folks can't post pictures in the comments, although I suppose there are solid security reasons for it. Why don't you email them to me at hijesscraven101@gmail.com and I'll share one or two in an upcoming newsletter!
Unbelievable list of hopeful news ‼️thank you
Any time!

Oh, I know it’s crazy. We’ve never had so much progress in one presidential term ever.
Thank you, Jessica! This really was a breath of fresh air!

Yeah, I think that money could probably be much better spent at schools with greater needs.

Oh wow! Do you have a link for that second fact? The first one I knew but neglected to mention, silly me!

I would love to see those pictures, Susan. Hope it can be done.
They didn’t make it the first time. Not sure which buttons to try next, but I’ll keep trying.
