I am a young Democrat. I just turned 18 and was able to vote for VP Harris. Election results were very devastating to me but I am ready to get back into activism
I am wondering where you here about these elections. For example, the amazing win by Virginia Democrats in their Senate. I did not know that they were having a race. How does anyone suggest that I stay up to date with these special elections?
Welcome, Uriel, and you’re doing the right thing. Encourage your friends and family to do the same!
Keep reading Chop Wood, Carry Water. On 12/20/24, Jessica posted about the Virginia elections, prior to holidays and taking a rare but more than deserved vacation. Her link to Grassroots Connector is a great resource to follow:
Thank you Uriel for being engaged and wanting to know about where to find information. I suggest looking at the website ballotpedia.org “This page presents Ballotpedia's ongoing research and curation on 2025 elections in the United States, including:
Coverage of state elections, including gubernatorial and state legislative races
Coverage of local elections, including mayoral and other municipal elections
Coverage of statewide ballot measures”
Also follow Fieldteam6.org which uses various mediums to help register Democrat voters across the nation, they follow as many races as they can. Also Postcards To Voters.
Uriel, you are being helped with wise suggestions from many good people.
Please realize a few points: 1) You are doing the extraordinary thing -- being engaged takes time and brain and heart bandwidth. I'm almost 60 years older than you and I thank you for your engagement; 2) Don't feel you have to do everything and never underestimate the power of your voice and the influence you can have; which leads to 3) As others have suggested, share your interest in your country and in politics with your friends. You might be surprised by their interest (or their "don't care" attitudes -- we all get that pushback sometimes), and finally 4) Realize you have just become a leader. Your voice matters and folks like me who are newly engaged after many years look to you for ideas, insights, and guidance. Among all the bits of good news Jessica has posted today, your comments have been the most encouraging to me. Many of us are so glad to walk with you on this path for a better America.
Hi Uriel! I think I would contact the Democratic Party in WI and check out their website. They may have suggestions. Also, you can look for “Indivisible” groups in the state as well “Move On” and “Swing Left”. Thanks for reaching out to Jessica because she’s our amazing guru!
There is an election in WI that will determine the ideological leaning of the court. The primary is 2/18 and the general election is 4/1. Susan Crawford is the left leaning judge running against Brad Schimel. And there are two governorships up this year in NJ and VA. Also three special elections for US Congressional House seats for the seats held by reps Trump picked for his administration. Stefanik’s seat in NY21 and two seats in FL - Matt Gaetz in FL1 and Mike Waltz in FL6.
Jessica, you are a marvel! I love hearing that organizations are getting tons of donations. I hope you are in a safe place with these winds picking up again. All my best!💕
Welcome Uriel! You have come to the right place. You will learn of so many wonderful opportunities to engage all across the country, and discover you are part of a very large, powerful and good hearted community. Invite your friends! So glad to have you with us :)
Uriel! I love your enthusiasm and desire to be an Activist for our Democracy. I agree with all the responses your have received and you are a great encouragement to me. Please do what you can do but do not become overwhelmed. Hopefully, you will find many like-minded friends who will join in your efforts. Welcome to the group!
I can't even begin to comprehend what people are going through in CA. My heart is racing for them. Thanks for updating on all the good that's happening there and in general.
OH AND .... there was an article or a post somewhere that the FELON was complaining that President Biden was making the transition VERY DIFFICULT. *queue my massive eye roll*
Meanwhile several CA republicans were in MAR-A-LAGO with their beloved felon instead in CA helping people.
Your pictures remind me of the weeks after Helene devastated western NC. The amount of donations was staggering and the volunteers worked daily to organize to ship out those items to those in need. And it continues today People do know how to come together to support each other. God bless you all.
Good news indeed. Thank you for filling us in. I’ve decided to dedicate Sundays as a device free day dedicated to reading, sitting in my garden, and taking walks. The only post I read on Sunday evenings is yours because it sets me up for the week ahead 😊🙏❤️
I’m grateful for so much good news during this dark time.
As follow up on one of your posts, I wrote post cards for the Virginia special election- our son and DIL live in Richmond. So glad to have been a small part in the candidates’ wins!!
The outpouring of donations and volunteers made me teary-eyed! Thank you for volunteering and updating us! 🩷
Thank you - the bad is so overwhelming that it ‘s been hard to hold on to the good. It’s so helpful to have a place that lists the good stuff!
I’m trying to find every single thing I can we need it all.
Wow thank you for posting this good news.

Exactly what Kate said!
Simon Rosenberg’s “Hopium” and Len Lubinsky’s “Len’s Political Notes” are two great resources.
Ballotpedia is a great place for learning about elections and who’s running
