Thank you for giving us access to important successes that never appear in the national media. Your work truly helps keep me afloat and helps me believe that local involvement can really make a difference, that there IS something I can contribute. Please do not ever doubt that you matter.
We had a minor ,albeit important, victory in a local city council race here in a heavily GOP leaning FL county. The incumbent Dem beat the younger,GOP candidate by just 14 votes. Boots on the ground helped clinch her narrow victory 🏃🏻♀️.Sad to admit I just don’t have the emotional energy to canvass this year so I’m driving 🚙 a local Dem warrior who loves to canvas .It’s a way to help the canvassing effort and make it safer and faster !
OMG!! The Patti Smith "People Have the Power" brought me to tears!!! After reading all of the wonderful things you listed that Dems were able to accomplish and then ending with that video, I am even more energized to continue fighting for our democracy. As Patti Smith said at the end of the video "USE YOUR VOICE!!!" Thank you, Jessica Craven, for helping to guide us in how to use our voices! Everybody keep up the good work!!!
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (AP) — A suburban Minnesota city became what is believed to be the first in the U.S. to elect a Somali American mayor when 27-year-old Nadia Mohamed was chosen to lead St. Louis Park.
Thanks so much Jessica for the perspective, hope, and news of "small but important wins" (and big ones) you bring us. I can't imagine how you do it, but I'm very grateful that you do!
Saved your Extra ! Extra! To have with a glass of wine🍷and what a treat it was! A balm for my soul. Thank you ! Thank you! From the bottom of my heart for all you do to guide us along 💕
Thanks, Jess. I didn't know about all these smaller wins and I'd been afraid to read that David Brooks piece (plus I don't really like him ;) but I'll read it now.
Yeah I don't like him either but his piece says something that needed to be said, and said it well. Also, if you want to see even more amazing wins be sure to read the RFS summary!
I can barely stand Brooks, but was happy to read a better essay than most of his usual pompous blathering. I just took issue with the title of the essay, Democrats: You Can Chill Out Now! Democrats can't 'chill out'! As you encourage us every day, Jess, we need to stay the course. Yes, we can't let anxiety get us down, we need to stay positive. But 'chilling' isn't an option. As Robert Hubbell frequently reminds us, "We have every reason to be hopeful and confident going into 2024, but no reason to be complacent!" Many thanks, Jess, as usual for your amazing work!
Thanks for the video of Patti Smith singing "People Have the Power."
My favorite version is her singing this song with U2 and a HUGE crowd in Paris, France. I have watched this video for several years, each time my spirits flag or I think I can't write another postcard or letter, or anything else. It always gets me diving back into whatever it is I was doing to help get out the vote!!
THANK YOU for listing all those inspiring WINS! It is so important to see and appreciate how big and how many there were! And yes! People Have the Power!!
Love your positive Sunday messages, Jessica. Love the YouTube! The city council candidate I focused on over the past month lost. However, am going to help another candidate who tied and will be in a runoff in early December. Met her at the state NAACP meeting Saturday, so there's always work we can do, no time to sob in defeat!
Am so happy you reported that here in Albuquerque we defeated the Moms For Liberty at least. Lots of hand-wringing about them this year.
Thank you again for all your hard work year-around. Can't imagine how much digging you do to give us all this info and succinctly!
Oh Diana so sorry your candidate lost! But I love that you’re getting right back on the horse for a runoff election! Best of luck and don’t stop fighting!
Jessica, you and Thom Hartmann and Jessica Valenti and Simon Rosenberg and Rohn Kenyatta keep me going when I start fading, easy to do after 25 years of this and not seeing the needle move except backwards it seems. Persist!

I really appreciate that, Val!

Yes! Tears and goose bumps at the same time. Beautfiul; People Have the Power, for sure.
Thank you Jessica, this was wonderful, uplifting, and I'll watch it as many times as I have to when I get depressed over stupid politics.
Ditto, Marilyn!

WOW! Amazing addition thank you!
What is also powerful, this community has a very large Jewish community.
Powerful indeed.

Thank you, Ruth! So glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you so much for the weekend reports. This one makes me feel so much better. I appreciate you dedication and commitment.
Thanks, Alan. And I yours!
Always value your diligence for democracy, Jess! You are an inspiration every day ❣️
Thank you, Sheila!

Perfect! So glad to be part of your Sunday decompression!
State and local elections used to be nearly uncontested for Republicans. Now we’re starting to eat their lunch. So glad to see this in my lifetime.
Me too!
Yum, Jason!

Good point. The title is, indeed, offputting.
Will do!
Agree

Thank you Jessica! You are an inspiration to all of us.
As are all of you to me!
First black man nominated for Virginia house speaker, Don Scott. Sorry if this was said and I missed it.
Amazing video of Patti Smith and all the wonderful choir singers. Very uplifting.
Jessica, thanks for being the kind, smart and loving person you are! So appreciative.
It’s in there! Such a huge deal!
Thanks for bringing the axe back. I too missed it last week but forgot to mention it to you. So helpful to see the fruits of our community's labor!
The axe is back for good! 🙌
