Hi, all.
Itโs Sunday after a brutal week. Thereโs no mitigating the horror of the current moment, but letโs at least take a second to celebrate the positive things that were also happening while tragedy was unfolding elsewhere.
Two things can be true at once: the world is a heartbreaking mess, and improvement is happening in some places. I believe that what we focus on grows, so letโs be sure to focus, if even briefly, on where we saw hope this week.
Remember: progress anywhere reminds us that progress is possible everywhere. Celebrating our wins strengthens us for the fight ahead.
So letโs read this list and take a few grateful breaths before returning to our newsfeeds. And please share this good news wide and far. It can feel like everything is awful, but thatโs not strictly true. That fact matters a great deal; we must amplify it.
Sending hugs. Sending love. Sending hope.
Jess
P.S. Iโve placed an ๐ช next to every victory that came about, even in part, because of the efforts of activists like you, or because of lawmakers that folks like you helped to elect.
