Hi Jessica, I meant to send this to you prior to this “extra extra” edition, but I’ll just post it in here now. There was some great news that a commentor posted in Simon Rosenberg’s newsletter a day or so ago. He explained that in a recent local election in Fairbanks, Alaska, progressives swept all of the open seats in what he called “a huge upset.” Here is the article.
It’s exciting to see the headway being made in these local elections everywhere, whether they be for state representatives, school boards, ballot issues, etc. They are an indicator of what’s happening overall and a good sign for 2024.
I am helping a group of Kitchen Table postcard writers do weekly postcards for various causes and candidates. We did over 1,000 cards in four weeks. What is the best group to get addreses from for Senatorial candidates? We need a little over 300 addresses a week. I need to get the addresses in one day to be made into packets for each writer to pick up, and the number I request will vary according to what folks have signed up to do. I want to support: Senators Rose, Tester, Baldwin and Brown. I have not found the right way to reach the right person in these campaigns. Suggestions?
Sure. And re-electing Baldwin is going to be their top priority going into 2024. I don’t recommend volunteering with them lightly. The Wisconsin Democratic Party is the strongest and best-run state Dem party in the country (Michigan’s is also phenomenal). Their organization is top-shelf. You’ll be well-used and well-led.
The only organization I know of that has done Senate postcardIng fairly consistently is Activate America, but right now the only Senate campaign they’re working on is Ruben Gallego in Arizona. Other than that most organizations that do postcarding do it for races further down the ballot. And of course there are loads of those organizations if you want to work on something other than Senate races.
Dang....California is tearing it up!! Yay for our governor! Thanks, Jess, for all of the positive info and for the book recommendation. If you haven’t read Heather Cox Richardson’s book, “Democracy Awakening”, please get it from you library or indie-book store. It’s a heart pounder!
Thank you Jess! Truly lighting up the darkness ❤️🩹
Glad it helped. ❤️
Cheers for freeing the Klamath River🤗❤️🤗❤️! Next free river should be the Snake❤️❤️❤️!
YES!
Thank you, Jessica, for these notes of brightness during these dark times.
❤️❤️❤️
Excellent news and accomplishments! Thanks as always Jessica!
Welcome as always!

I think that was in last week's, no?
But it bears repeating!
You may be right and I just forgot. I think you should trust yourself more than me. Lol!!
Thanks for sharing this! State and local elections have been dominated be Republicans for decades and now we’re finally gaining serious ground.
I agree. Very heartening

🤗🤗
Thanks for your continued positivity, Jess, and for the list of things to be thankful for.
Sure thing, Mim. Thank YOU for being here!
Great stuff! The Wisconsin legislature backing down from impeachment (for now) is a big deal.
I agree. I really do believe that the outcry scared them off.

I am looking for ways to support Baldwin, in particular. Any suggestions?
As in Tammy?
Yes, Tammy Baldwin the Democratic Senator for Wisconsin. She is considered very vulnerable and is under right-wing attack.
I’d say sign up to volunteer with WisDems. They’re amazing.
Thanks!

Great list. I needed that. Thank you.
Thank you for the good news! I, too, loved Still Life.
