Jess, Gary Peters (Michigan) is not up for reelection next year, he has decided not to run next year and this will be an open seat.

The last number is the Long Island office I was able to leave a message with Senator Schumer telling him to rally the troops and have ALL Democrats vote no on this horrible CR.

I called 4 of these numbers and was unable to leave a message on any of them. The NYC office still had a Holiday voicemail greeting… I guess he doesn’t wanna hear from us? It seems a little disconcerting.

I am represented by two Republican senators, but I called Chuck Schumer’s office this morning and told him that he needs to corral the Democratic senators to vote as a block and vote no

NPR interviewed Senator Chris Coons (no relation) where he explained why he is voting no. Just because Donald Trump and the Republicans are going to blame Democrats for shutting down. The government doesn’t mean that’s an accurate representation of what’s going on.

Call the republicans, anyway. They expect a certain volume of calls from constituents. Flooding them tells them that something is sufficiently unpopular that it could cost them their next election. FLOOD them. Every time!

Why one senator is voting “no” on a bill that would stop a government shutdown

Sen Coons used an argument very close to the one I used in my phone calls to Slotkin and Peters today. Of course the Dems will be blamed. The Dems need to step up and tell the world that Trump and Musk are the ones already shutting down (destroying) the government, and they must be stopped.

Additionally, we have found out that being tempered is not working, so we need to be unified and stand up for what’s right. We need to be in it for the long game.

I admire Dems for being polite and professional in the past, but Dems need to show they have steel, and they really care about these issues.

Dems are going to be blamed no matter what, at least they can do the right thing.

Dems also need to do a much better job messaging - straight to the people. The GOP is ALREADY shutting down the government by decimating budget and manpower providing services that keep America safe and make America a great place to live. The Dems must do anything and everything to save our country. (legal and non violent)

Good grief! They’re going to get blamed for whatever happens no matter what so vote no. Who cares! If the Republicans want to pass a bill they need to work with the other side. Everybody’s always expecting the Democrats to be bipartisan but not the Republicans tell them to get lost

Calling all of them now. These folks may be worried about "shutting down the government" but Trusk has already done that and there will be no government left at the end of this CR. In the meantime they will gut social security, drive us into a terrible recession and more. Demand the Democrats resist with all they have.

Good news is that I couldn’t reach either Senator by phone, and the Capitol switchboard was a bit wonky. one time, a person answered and connected me to the office but their recording wouldn’t allow me to leave a message, so clearly folks ARE deluging legislators with calls, which is good. I ended up having to leave emails on their websites, which is what their recordings said to do.

Democrats are damned if they do, and damned if they don’t. If the CR doesn’t pass, Republicans will blame them for the government shutdown. If they vote to pass the CR, Trump/Musk are going to burn everything down and Republicans will blame Democrats for not stopping the horror.

We should absolutely be on the side that does everything it can to stop this madness.
