It's interesting that CEPR says that Biden is not Franklin Roosevelt. I think Heather Cox Richardson would beg to differ. For some time now, she has strongly hinted that he may be surpassing FDR. As for his lack of charisma, I'm reminded of what my dear departed Daddy used to say when my mother would drag him to a fancy restaurant that had mediocre food. "You can't eat atmosphere," he'd say, as he instead preferred a place whose outside wasn't much to look at but had...good eats!
I get the WaPo ‘The 7 DMV (7 articles from the District , Maryland, Virginia )’ email each day. It’s from the Sept. 2nd issue under Local News. Youngkin has a huge fundraising blitz going on.
Just mailed 50 handwritten postcards to registered voters who haven't voted in recent elections. Names, addresses, and script provided by Activate America. A drop in the bucket, but added to everyone else's drops, we can create a powerful blue wave.
Democracy is not a spectator sport. Do what you can! ❤️
Reading Heather Cox Richardson, Robert Reich, Joyce Vance, and your Substack helped me realize the importance of participating more fully. During my working years, I believed researching the candidates and always voting was adequate civic participation. I occasionally wrote letters to Senators and Congresspersons. In the current climate, I realize it's not enough. We all have to do more!
Research has shown handwritten postcards with the recipient's name are one of the most effective ways to encourage people to vote. Sign up with any of the volunteer groups. I get my mailing info from Activate America and eye-catching postcards from ETSY. We have to assure a better America for our children and grandchildren!
Two items I am taking away from the CEPR blog post "Should people be happy about the Biden economy?"
1. [Similarly to the FDR Presidency in its third year,] we should be asking ourselves and those with whom we have influence: "Do you think the country's executive administration is heading in the right direction?"
2. The buyback tax on stock (1 percent tax on money paid out to shareholders through share buybacks) sounds like an amazing under-the-radar "foot in the door" toward more equitable taxation through enforcement efficiency. This is discussed in several paragraphs in the section with the heading "Biden's Longer-Term Agenda." (Again, heading in the right direction.)

President Biden directed Democrats to pour $1.2 million into Virginia legislative races.
Oooh where did you see that?

It’s #3 in today’s email.
Thanks, again!
Thanks, Barbara; I get the 7 DMV as well and missed that article.

If anyone is interested, all the postcarding campaigns I know of are in this doc. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ADX8_k9WoPJDFwKiMRLYfTEThGP23yGyqytylpSxn8M/edit
Always good to be reminded to put the phone away once in awhile and remember what we’re doing all this for👍🙏
Exactly. ❤️
Happy restoration! I'm loving this concept of glimmers, those moments we find of joy, wonder, or safety:

I love that! I actually have a friend who mentions glimmering moments. Now I know what she's talking about!

Yes! Both of those I thought were helpful points.
All, these tee shirt posts are spam and I'm working on getting rid of them. Just FYI they've been reported.
