I just have to share the BEST anecdote. My Mom lives in a tiny town in east TX and she plays cards with a big group of women a few times a week. She texted me recently to ask if I knew where her pearl necklace was and I thought it was strange because pearls aren't really her style. She told me yesterday that she feels left out because every single one of the women in her friend group wears pearls and Chucks every day because they are so excited to vote for Kamala. I love it!

OMG that's amazing!

Emily, please give your mom and her card-playing friends a round of applause from here. Thanks so much for sharing this!

Jessica, this is amazing! I am getting started, in addition to the articles I write. I am 72, and not very mobile, but this is something I can do without leaving my computer. Thank you for the information, and what you are doing.

Why only women? Men often use restroom stalls, and they can write “MAN TO MAN”!! REAL men can urge their fellow men to vote for Harris-Walz, too. Let’s leave no Postmate out!! Elisabeth

I like that! I think the reasoning behind this particular campaign is that a lot of women from a certain segment of the population vote the way their husbands tell them to and fear that they'll get found out if they go against them.

Maybe because I was attacked by the media several years ago for “ hanging laundry “ Reuters picked it up in 2010 and the world found out. They just couldn’t understand that it would be illegal to hang your laundry outside in the United States of America . I wrote a book published 2010 Laundry Wisdom and proceeded to do a PBS documentary “Right to Dry. Reason I shared this information is because when the media comes knocking on your door your life is changed forever and my cause was a happy cause. Whoever is the Arlington National Park Service who was threatened by Trump and thugs needs to keep their name out of the press. I can’t believe that you would demand to know who it is because you are threatening that souls life. They will certainly lose their position their job. They will lose their privacy and they will get death threats. It is their freedom their right to be protected to come out to the media and if you think for one second that the Army will protect them you are wrong. I’m 100% behind every move you have made for this election and your overwhelming help to the Democracy of this country couldn’t be more honorable yet I’m begging you to please stop this Arlington Mission

Carlin, I hadn't thought about the person who was assaulted HAD TO BE NAMED. The Army can release the information without the name of the woman, can't they? I am sorry for what you went through.

Expand full comment

Yes they can absolutely keep her protected and I am certain that they will. There is no reason her name would need to come out. And I, too, am sorry for what happened to you, Carin. Especially as a fellow line drier!

I thought the same thing. Feels very fascist for women to have to worry about trump’s rancid mob just because they’re doing their jobs.

I wondered about that too, Carin. I certainly hope it's true that the Army can release the story w/o their name. I am truly sorry that happened to you.

Carin, thank you for sharing your story today…tragically timely. Please always stay safe.

I'm just a retired country doctor from NC, but I appreciate every one of you grass rooters. !!!!!! I try to contribute some policy tools, hoping that one that resonates with voters will be a useful tool for Kamala and Tim. Having written medical articles and done research that changed the way we practice medicine makes me hopeful of changing our politics to not only elect Kamala and Tim but also to send the Mango Mussolini to be dragged through the streets by his formerly adoring crowd. Love, Doc Jessica and her "women's group" are an irresistible force for electing Democrats. www.dykers.com

Read this morning in the NYT. there is data on the undecideds that is useful even if all polls today are unreliable. The bottom line is brag on Kamala and Tim and hardly bother to bash Trump, as easy and fun as that is to do. He is a well known cheat.

Not sure what stocks will do or whether it matters, BUT the HAPPY news is that crude oil is below 70 and Brent Crude is barely above 70. If this shows up at the pump from tomorrow to Nov 5, Kamala and Tim will win.

In a voter registration training session, I learned the 50% of all disqualified mail-in ballots were due to absence of the Social Security Number (last 4 digits required in VA). Simple solution...let's give a shout out about alerting voters to pay attention to this detail!

If we force the Arlington police report to be released we are violating the cemetery employee’s desire to have their name and identity kept secret for their personal safety. I will not push that person and their family into danger in hopes of scoring a political point.

Jess, thank you again for posting about the One Dem Minute Film Festival. Update, the festival was held on Sun. Sept 1 in Hollywood and, thanks to generous friends who suggested and supported a GoFundMe for me, I attended as one of 30 finalists (of 300+ entries)... and won one of four Audience Choice awards (yes, I'm bragging!!)

It was a wonderful evening! All our finalist films( 3 min or less) were screened in blocks of 10, interspersed with a talk from Laura Friedman, candidate for CA 30, and entertainment from country singer & celebrity judge, Gwen Levey, performing "Barefoot & Pregnant." The three celebrity judges announced their Best Impact awards. Then the audience, present and virtual, was invited to select their three favorites for Audience Choice awards - I didn't know you could do that electronically and in real time! The top four were announced and I was one of them! Next day was my 79th birthday, which I spend in Hollywood at Grauman's Chinese Theater Walk of Fame and the Academy Museum of MOtion Pictures and dinner with new friends - quite the birthday weekend!

Here's my song, Propaganda: Who is Lying to You,

https://youtu.be/VkfVuwWdz0g?si=-Xq8SXtVVK6qJx3K and here is the Festival website where all the films (they were awesome!) will be posted and ready to be message tools until Nov 5! onedemminute.com

Hi Jessica, I was aready signed up for the Tom Bonier/Hopium Zoom tonight. I registered for the Americans Abroad and Movement Voter project meeting just now. Between you, Robert Hubbell and Simon Rosenberg I feel like I'm a member of the grassroots inner circle and am never at a loss for something to do!! ;-)

Speaking of Simon and Hopium, he is continuing with his winning the house/vote on Day 1 events where we have an opportunity to phone bank or write postcards for one of house candidates Hopium is supporting. Tomorrow is George Whiteside who is running in one of the flippable CA districts. We'll be continuing this every Thursday all the way through September and into early October (I think).

You do not have to be a Hopium subscriber and can still sign up for tomorrow's event here: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUqf-qvpj0oHdaRehZVzPa1LyMF415_QEvD#/registration.

You wil be asked when you register to pick a breakout room - postcard (experienced or training) or phone bank (experienced or training). If you choose one of the two postcard breakouts you will get an email from "Winning the House" with 10 names and addresses. You provide the postcards and stamps, but they are all mail later, so you could attend this week even if you don't have any postcards - come and hang out and save your names and addresses to write later!! :-)

Also there is the 24 hour postcard writing marathon from Downtown Nasty Women/Markers for Democracy/Team Min. You can register for that here: https://mailchi.mp/b9afb9f6f14b/join-us-for-24-in-24-our-3rd-postcard-around-the-clock-on-zoom
