Hi, all, and happy Monday! I know it’s a holiday for some of you, so g’mar chatima tova to those of you observing Yom Kippur. As always, there’s lots to worry about in the news. The Republicans grow more venal by the day; mainstream media is flailing; anxiety-provoking headlines are everywhere. It’s stressful—of that there is no question.
Following your lead, I’ve started a new practice this morning. Whenever I make a comment or respond to a comment (NYT or WaPo… I know I should just quit the subscription…), I am adding a Good New about Biden. Used one of yours for starters. “ President Biden issued an Executive Order to protect people in East Palestine, Ohio and nearby communities, and continue to hold Norfolk Southern accountable.”
I don’t do social media so this is my drop in the bucket. (I will be most cautious in how I do this…)
I wanted to make sure that everyone saw this great article in today’s New York Times about The States Project where many of us have Giving Circles! This will help in encouraging future donors:
I only have Republican Senators(and Rep) so I will be contacting them regarding Menendez, as I did my Rep about George Santos.
I have called and written to my Senators numerous times about Tuberville. Also wrote letter to Ed and then received anonymous snail mail that quoted my letter along with a litany of Faux News talking points. They.are.desperate!
I'm interested in Focus For Democracy, however their website is extremely vague as to details about what they do, even in the FAQs. Can you let me know the name of one organization they have funded?
Yes! Movement Voter Project and Working America were two they funded heavily last year, with prodigious and demonstrable success! The website is a little vague but I promise you'll be super impressed once you've seen what they do and how they work. Not sure yet who they're looking to fund this year but whomever it is will be worth the money.
Thanks so much. MVP is an outstanding organization that I heavily fund each year, because they help and train around 400 organizations in almost every state in the US to GOTV and develop year round relationships with their voters. And Working America is a fabulous organization for helping workers and educating them so they are more informed voters at election time and beyond. Not sure I can make it home in time to watch their program on Thursday, but I'll sign up anyway. Curious to see who they pick for this year.
