Thank you for the quote. Here's another quote from Hubert Humphrey that I keep in a list of quotes to help me remember the good and kind people:

The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; and those who are in the shadows of life -- the sick, the needy and the handicapped. -Hubert Horatio Humphrey, US Vice President (1911-1978)

Now to finish my Blue Wave postcards to voters in PA.

I do not live in the U.S. but I find this so eye-opening. Hubert Humphrey's comments are so amazingly relevant. WISHING YOU ALL LOTS OF LUCK AND SUCCESS! You are NOT GOING BACK!

Signed the Resistbot Kings petition which came into my WhatsApp inbox this morning automatically since I "follow jesscraven101" and am still writing VoteForward.org letters. Lots still to do in the less than 50 days left before the election.

The correct Resistbot link to No Kings Act is:

Uh oh did I give you the wrong code?

Expand full comment

no, it's whatever generates the link in your newsletter, that gives the same 6 letter code in every newsletter when that link is clicked. Different readers have mentioned this before and Resistbot has said it's not at their end, so I just do it manually using the correct code, or I do it when it comes into my inbox after you generate each petition.

It's the simplest and easiest way to sign your petitions, to "Follow jesscraven101" and then every petition you create is automatically sent to me and all I have to do is click through the choices and done in less than one minute.

I find it remarkable that you now have almost 14K followers including me on Resistbot.

Also, while I used to click to "READ" your petitions in the early days, I've come to trust that if you write about an issue, it's important enough to sign, and because I've read enough of your petitions to know that you consistently write courteously yet passionately regarding the issue to our legislators, I now just click "YES" to sign.

Also, nice seeing you this morning on the 24 for '24 Zoom event. 💙

Lets hope that we have the type of election result we did in 64. With the Democrats winning all but a handful of states, a +35 seat majority in the house and a 2/3 majority in the Senate.

Maybe that will end MAGA

My history teacher husband taught politics and always used the phrase “smear and jeer” for the extreme uglier Republicans.

I like it, but I like "smear and fear" even more. Fits today's GOP perfectly.

Good one today, Jess. I would add that many messages targeting Republican House members are suitable for so called Blue Dog Democrats as well, like mine.

Very true! Thank you!

Thank you Jessica. I was a. 30 year old in Hubert Humphrey's American and have vivid memories of the 'happy warrior' and of LBJ. Out of that came much that worked and was right. I hope for that now.

“Virtually no one in America is hungry for more division, chaos, or suffering.” I disagree, Jess. I think this is exactly what Trump voters want. He offers absolutely nothing else.

Jessica

I don't see encouragement to write letters to editor to local papers. Smart letters. Seems more powerful than postcards from strangers. Would be GREAT to see some model letters. I just wrote one quoting Trump (Haitians eating dogs, schools doing sex change operations, AI fake photos of Kamala crowds, or her busing people in and paying them, mothers executing their newborns. With comment that a democrary depends on informed voters and, ideally, candidates grounded in reality.

I'm blown away by the quote by Hubert Humphrey. It's three days later and I'm still thinking about it. When it feels like we're in the most hideous moment, it helps to be given a historical perspective. We've been here before. Thank you so much for sharing.

It blew me away, too. Reading history keeps me sane.

Hi Jess -- Such a great newsletter. I have couple of things to share w people and have no idea how to find -- other than to go day by day. So -- 1) What date did you post including Kamala's Georgia rally about abortion, including a clip, and His response. 2) The last date you provided a link to strategic donations. THANKS

The link to strategic donations is at the top of every newsletter! As for the other one? no idea! Sorry!
