I love the potluck analogy. Thanks for highlighting Ari Berman tonight. I keep trying to read the book but I get interrupted so I'm looking forward to hearing him tonight. And thank you for mentioning our 24-hour Postcard-Around-The-Clock 3.0. We have some great speakers coming including some of our favorite Substackers Jessica Craven, David Pepper, Robert Hubbell, Joyce Vance, Lucian Truscott IV; Simon Rosenberg and Tom Bonier to talk polling; Rebecca Traister to talk about the grassroots energy fueling the Harris-Walz campaign with Leah Greenberg, co-founder of Indivisible and one of the organizers behind Women for Harris and Ross Morales Rocketto, co-founder of Run For Something and the lead organizer for White Dudes for Harris. Plus young leaders like Rep. Maxwell Frost, David Hogg, Sam Schwartz. And rural organizers like Jess Piper. Plus electeds like Sen. Cory Booker, Reps. Jeff Jackson, Andy Kim, and Jamie Raskin and Red to Blue candidates like Janelle Bynum, Will Rollins, Tony Vargas, and George Whitesides. And Heather Cox Richardson. Oh, and Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi. And more. You can come and go as you please or stay on all night. (I'm too old for an all nighter.) Bring your postcards! https://linktr.ee/24hoursin24
I love your “potluck” analogy to democracy! It is a great way to spark conversation as well as make new friends, even if you are not entirely on the same page with one another. I will be phone banking for Whitesides in CA every Wednesday until Election time. 💕☎️
You are right about the potluck image. That's it in a nutshell. We need to reclaim participatory democracy. For one thing, it's way more fun (and work) to participate. But working for something bigger than yourself is good work and worth doing.
Great post today--both the potluck analogy and all the ways we can help win this. If you recall, would you mind to please mention, again, the organization that calls registered Democrats to remind them to vote? Thank you so much! I look forward to your newsletter every day to give me my marching orders😉
And a huge thank you for giving us a way to help the Haitians community. Brilliant!
I went back to the suggested donations page, which I love- and found NC’s Center for Common Ground is seriously underfunded. What a great grassroots org! Thought I’d donate and give a shoutout. I love the potluck idea and my favorite dishes are postcards, yard signs, donating, and talking to random people enthusiastically.
Is there a more printer friendly version of the Project 2025 handout? My printer will run through the blue ink in no time with these. It’s too awesome to just print a few.
Random thought 1: potluck analogy is spot on. 2: I just read the verbatim of Trump’s town hall with S.H. Sanders. Stark raving lunacy! It reads like a total lampoon of Trump himself. This is way past anything but plain craziness. My question is how to challenge NYT and other media to stop ignoring the madness in plain sight. 3: Thanks for the connections to MVP, Run for Something, and Activate America. I’m daring myself to do more including write more post cards. Very therapeutic.
Potlucks (and not those where the hosts assign all the dishes!) are the best. Perfect analogy, Jess! This issue is full of goodies, everything from salads to desserts. Thanks so much for inviting me!
I dislike that Project 2025 song— it’s done in such a way that one could say “yeah, that’s what I want” rather than countering with any depth. Then it ends by saying “2025” with a big banner; like let’s vote FOR Project 2025. To me it’s too confusing and misses the mark. I find it unhelpful.

Wow that is an amazing lineup!
I just signed up for this. It looks like lots of fun!

Thank you, Marlene! That's amazing!

Agree across the board.
Donated to the Haitian organization. Thank you for the tip!
Thank you!
I love the document about descriptive words. Our language matters so much.
Also I highly recommend Blue Wave Postcards. Looks like they're already sold out. Vote Forward still has letters to write however!
Yup they sell out really fast. I just started Vote Riders letters which I highly recommend.
ck back with them as they are adding new states every day or so and will for the next few weeks.

There are many, many orgs that do that. Pretty much every phonebank is doing just that!
Thank you!!

Yes! I just added them back in and will plug it today in the newsletter, too. They are wonderful and really need the money.
I just made another to the Center For Common Ground this week. They are doing great work and need the $$ to do it.
Thank you!
Sending love and money to the Haitian groups too. There is something healing in being engulfed with support.
I agree!
I printed out copies of the flyer, will distribute in my neighborhood. Thanks.
Thank you!
Thank you for this great analogy. I really appreciate your steady hand and optimism. You help me a lot!
Aw thank you, Elizabeth! As Joyce Vance says, we're in this together.
Fabulous analogy. Sharing widely.
Thank you!
Speaking of the heat this past summer, DeSantis signed a bill in April Banning Local Governments from Cooling and Water breaks! Terrible🤮
It's literally demonic. What is the matter with that man?

Ugh I know. Let me see if I can find the person who created them...it was on Threads but I think they also subscribe...

Fantastic! Thank you! And as for the corporate media, we did a letter to them last week about sanewashing. I'll try to get another one in soon.
I saw the letter but couldn’t relocate it. Would love another.

Thanks, Elizabeth!
Mom’s Rising postcards arrived this afternoon! 😘
Oh wow amazing! I was wondering if mine would ever come....
Same.

Well, that's what makes horse races, as they say!
