I'm picking up 25 yard signs from the Alsobrooks headquarters to deliver to houses in my Maryland neighborhood and surrounding that are corner houses or on visible roads. I also made 50 Alsobrooks bracelets for door knockers to hand out with a tags that say, "Every election is determined by the people who show up. Register. Make a Plan. Vote. Visit Vote.gov" I'll continue posting and inspiring (Ha) on Facebook (people actually do reach out to me privately to say I've inspired them to care more). I'll be making more bracelets. I'm going to include some generic Vote bracelets with the Vote.gov tag on a plate along with some treats for the teachers and staff at my sons' schools. I wear my bracelets that say various things (Harris/Walz; Lock Him Up; Defeat the Felon; Justice Joy Kamala; Alsobrooks; keep the senate blue, etc.) to strike up conversations. I give them people who ask about them. What else...I have a stack of post cards stamped and ready to go in Oct. for a local election board in Maryland (against a Moms of Liberty candidate). Hopefully seeing Mary Trump tomorrow and will get to mingle with more like-minded folks. I have an organize shirt coming in the mail to also strike up conversations. Firming up plans to door knock in philly. Still need to door knock in Maryland.
I’m writing postcards with a group of friends. We live in upstate NY where many New Yorkers have second homes. We are trying to get them to register to vote up here to get Molinaro out!
I have a second home upstate and vote there specifically because I receive just such a postcard 12 years ago. I helped get Faso out! I've been writing letters and postcards to NY19 voters
Jessica - to comment on your call to our Senators today, you wrote about Louis DeJoy heading up the US Postal Board and why can't we get rid of him. Here is what I wrote in HCR's comments just a few minutes ago as her readers were also railing on about getting DeJoy out of office.
According to HCR the Postal Board must have an equal number of members from each party. So if 8 members there would be 4 Dems and 4 Repubs. When Trump was president 2 of the Dem seats expired and Trump filled them with Dems, as required, but he placed people who were basically DINO's in those seats. Also, it is the postal Board who votes to eject the Postmaster General. With 2 Dino's and 4 Repubs on the Board there is no chance of dumping DeJoy. Now, I believe there are 2 seats available and Biden has been trying to get the confirmations approved in the Senate. But due to the filibuster the names are not being put forward. I may have one or more sections of this not entirely accurate, but this is the gist of why we can't get rid of DeJoy.
Thanks for this thoughtful explanation. I had the same question myself. Congress is so broken when it comes to confirming reasonable candidates for jobs.
1. I have 30 postcards to write targeting college students in AZ to register and VOTE in Nov as part of Sister District/Sacramento, CA Chapter's Mighty Writers Team.
2. Textbanking for FieldTeam6 both Saturday and Sunday on a variety of campaigns across the country to nudge low-propensity to came out and vote in Nov.
3. Purchased my airline ticket to be a poll observer in Los Vegas NV on the 5th of Nov. Awaiting training on what this will entail, but looking forward to this because myself and 2 college friends will be doing this poll watching together. Strength in numbers!
In addition to sharing the link for the Springfield Ohio Resistbot, I'll be doing postcards to Ohio voters this weekend. I'm also going to be writing bios for Democratic candidates in my county for the County Democrats. I also hope to write an essay or two. My wife and I just survived a nearly two week visit from our son and his family (including in-laws) who live in Japan (7 houseguests, including 3 kids). I want to write about that while the memories are still fresh and wonderful. I also have a few ideas about the political climate that I want to work on.
I'm a full time working mom of 2 young kids but this is SO important to me so here goes:
-Just got off a DNC Harris/Walz phone bank
-Tonight after bedtime I'm writing as many postcards for the House and Vote Forward letters as I can (may have overcommitted myself)
-Tomorrow I'm sending an invite out for a "Brew and Do Something" Vote Forward letter writing party I'm planning to have a local brewery and inviting all my friends/family who I know care about this.
-Sunday I'm picking up 8 packets of Working America letters (25 letters each) from my local Indivisible group. We had an Election open forum at my public health non-profit where I shared this newsletter and volunteer opportunities and I had 6 people sign up to write letters! (We're a small bunch).
I think I'm going to sign up for one of those Volunteer Blue coaching sessions. I've done a few Harris/Walz phonebanks and gotten a few "undecided" voters and I haven't managed to be that persuasive. I'm more used to straight get out the vote and I find it easier to convince people in state or Congressional races as most people don't have opinions about the candidates yet (or haven't heard of them). I'm trying to not feel deflated and keep going and learning, very open to any suggestions!
I’m volunteering with the Georgia and Wisconsin voter protection hotlines so I’ll be reviewing the manuals for both states. I’m also learning how to cure ballots in Wisconsin. In 2020 Biden won Wisconsin by 20,000 votes and Democrats cured 36,000 ballots!
On Tuesday, September 17 - Constitution Day - I’ll be handing our copies of the Constitution at the Staten Island Ferry, just across the bay from the Statue of Liberty.
Writing 10 postcards for NEAZ Native Democrats and 10 for Mondaire Jones as part of the Hopium community "Winning the House" weekly postcarding event. Just mailed 15 postcards to elect Jonathan Nez in AZ CD2 as part of NEAZ Native Democrats organizing.
Writing postcards into Georgia with the blue wave postcard movement, and writing vote forward letters to Americans abroad. I carry postcards with me wherever I go and write them in the interstices of my day! ❤️🤍💙
Thank you TV, the great visual medium. Emotionally, many of us will better remember what we saw than what we heard; the x-president pervert who showed up at Tuesday's debate did us a great service. Besides his crazy ranting about the ACA, pet eating, abortion and so forth, he burned his smirking, scowling, reptile like image into our visual memory. So, when millions and millions of Americans vote, they will see in their memory, his crocodilian face transposed next to a smiling and laughing in disbelief, normal human, Kamala Harris.
I'm out of town this weekend, celebrating my Mom's 93rd birthday. But I brought postcarding supplies so I can write for Mondaire Jones.
Happy birthday to your mom!!
I've got 10 friends coming over to write letters to working class MI voters with Working America. We did 700 last week and my goal is 5000 by Oct 22. https://volunteer.workingamerica.org/portal/summary/
I’m so glad you’re doing those WA letters! They are SO IMPORTANT!

Also, mailing out bracelets and buttons/pins to facebook friends to wear in their less blue areas of Maryland.
Thinking of making tarot cards based on the tight Senate seats---what your future could look like. But that's ambitious. Ha.
You are a marvel! Thank you!

I love this Kari!
Let's get Riley elected! :)
Oh fantastic! Mohawk Valley area, right?
Catskills
I’m hosting a Vote Forward letter writing party on Saturday.
Incredible, Belinda! Are you a musician by any chance?

Yes that is all correct.
Thanks for this thoughtful explanation. I had the same question myself. Congress is so broken when it comes to confirming reasonable candidates for jobs.
Or at least one particular party is broken.

Omg hero! Thank you!
I'm writing Vote Forward letters. Just turned in another 350 postcards! Happy Friday everyone...
Incredible! Thank you!
Awesome!!
Canvassing - again. 3 turfs in my neighborhood this weekend and over the coming days
Fantastic! What state?
Thanks for the acknowledgment, Jess!

Wow, Alyssa.Full-time,working mom with 2 young kiddos and doing all this⬆️.My suggestion….Tell your story of why you’re doing this…make it personal!
I totally agree. I always say “I’m doing this because I have an lgbtq child…etc”
I think those coaching sessions sound great! Let me know how it goes!

And we have a group of grandparents in Denver and we get together once a week and write blue wave movement postcards.
Yes!

Love that! And love the casual use of interstices in a sentence!
