Hi, all, and happy Monday. Hope you had a great weekend. As you likely know, the Ukrainian military has had a phenomenal series of victories in the last few days. You can read more about them here (I highly recommend the Status Kuo newsletter, by the way. It’s excellent). These recent gains are the stuff of great novels, honestly. Of epic poems. Of classic battle films. The determination, perseverance and courage shown by the Ukrainian forces and their leaders are just…jaw dropping.
Your column reminds me of Maria’s joyful song in the Sound of Music about confidence, ending with “I have confidence in me!” We must remain hopeful, strong and confident.
Thomas Friedman's oped in the NYT, "Putin's New Cold War: Freeze Europe" raises an important point: we need to supply as much energy to Europe as is humanly possible to supplant what they will lose due to Putin's stoppage of Russian gas and oil. That will hurt Putin. If slowing down our conversion from fossil fuels to other fuels hurts Putin, then I'm for slowing down our conversion.
Jessica, Like other commenters have said, you're amazing! You're better than MoveOn! I've been politically active for 23 years and only Thom Hartmann compares to you! Will definitely upgrade to paid subscription after the election (to save donation money for now).
Thank you for such talent and hard work. The researching alone is daunting and invaluable.
Jessica -- I hope you have a chance to quickly answer this query, which maybe will help others too. I've been doing the work (postcards and letters mostly, some calls) with a couple excellent organizations. In this final run to November 8, I'm trying to figure out where my last round of donations should go. It's hard! So many, many candidates that need our help. I've been supporting (Senate) Barnes, Warnock, Beasley (in association with Senate Circle), but then have read that the big Senate races have plenty of money (when I look at Ballotopedia, seems true of Warnock and maybe Beasley but not Barnes). So instead I've turned to the House but now everywhere I look there are long lists of really important House races. I've been impressed with Movement Voter PAC -- for their analysis and methods, support of on the ground organizations etc. Its seems like making my donation in one place may be more effective than trying to figure it out for many individual campaigns. What do you think -- and what do you think of Movement Voter PAC? Have any other recommendations? Thank you!
I took the liberty of copy-pasting your DemCast "help needed" to LFAA, crediting you fully. Hopefully some people will respond.
Oh, everyone, do enjoy our new anthem for 2022, courtesy of Sheryl Lee Ralph!

Jessica, I think you're amazing. Quick question. What does [H/T/ 350 Bay Area] mean, at the end of the Call your Senator paragraph.
SO appreciate your quick response and the tremendous work you do. Many many thanks!
Emailed to sign up to research. Ths is a perfect option for me!
