I was at my kid’s Back to School night last night, roasting in an under air-conditioned classroom, when I saw a twitter alert on my phone announcing that Mary Peltola had won her race. I literally squealed out loud and grabbed the parent next to me—whom I barely knew—to show her my phone.
I had seen (and liked) your TikTok videos before I knew that you were on Substack. I found my way here by checking out who other Robert Reich subscribers were reading. I love your enthusiasm, energy, spunk, and occasional colorful language for emphasis!
As for my congressional representatives, I changed tack today as they had either sponsored or co-sponsored the bills in question, so I chose to thank them for their support on both marriage equality and shining additional light on the inordinate amount of money in our political system, but that more will need to be done.
'With the ever-increasing extremities in the Supreme Court decisions for many years now, particularly this last session, I am heartened that Congress is finally starting to take steps to protect people’s civil liberties and also shining a light on who is spending inordinate amounts of money to influence our elections and elected representatives.'
