Again I urge the ending of the filibuster relating to passing the voting rights act HR 5746 because democracy is greatly at risk and we must ensure that every American has the same access to the ballot box and election control:: times place and manner in federal elections. Wake up America! You must pass HR 5746
I'll just say again that I'm not ignoring you on this--there is simply no way this is going to happen until we expand our Senate majority. The second we do I will have this call front and center.
I have written to some influential law professors asking them to contact their former students in industry and the Senate to shake this out. The damage will be reflected in 2022 election if we don't take action now. I have also approached Ohio folks to talk to Rob Portman because he should go out with a bang by supporting civil rights: voting rights, personal freedoms. I think Murkowski, Collins, Romney and Portman have consciences. Their states voted for all the amendments to the Voting Rights Act and now the Senate's inaction is empowering the US Supreme Court. Congress can stop this march back to pre 1965 and segregated voting. That's what is happening only it is the disabled, minorities especially rural poor: Native Americans, blacks and Latinx, students and seniors who are being targeted, not just black Americans. This week is the right time to act, not after Nov.22 . that is too late.
Yup. Read those right after I hit send on my email. Sigh. I hope that suggestions to amend the act in general will make them consider all of the advice coming in. Marc Elias is extremely well known and connected as heck so I'm assuming he can get those additional concerns to the right people.

Finally got over my inertia and called my representatives, did my extra credit and worked my way through Resistbot! Felt good and thanks!
Yay for you! Thank you!
Marc Elias seems to have additional comments about the Electoral Count Act. It's not clear to me if they are similar to those by Robert Hubbell and Lawrence Tribe: https://www.democracydocket.com/news/a-trap-or-not-deciphering-the-electoral-count-reform-act/?emci=3da134d1-5a17-ed11-bd6e-281878b83d8a&emdi=a2648ce3-da17-ed11-bd6e-281878b83d8a&ceid=10449110
