Hi! I have been holding two Postcarding parties a month where we write Field Team 6 postcards to likely Democratic voters in swing states encouraging them to register to vote. In October I’ll switch to GOTV postcards. We meet in my backyard, I have snacks and beverages available and we talk politics while we write. It’s a great way to get more people involved!
I’m holding my second postcard party on Sunday afternoon. The first was last Monday and five old ladies from Maine listened to the DNC Roll Call Playlist, ate and drank, talked about other opportunities to help Harris/Walz (and all Dems) win in November, and wrote 125 cards. We hope to do another 125 on Sunday.
Oh my goodness! Have so much fun! BTW I JUST today made a video about what to expect at your first canvass! If you think you'd find it helpful it's here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_JKmi3NgrM
Been doing postcard parties all summer. We sent 100 out for the AZ primary, are finishing 300 through Postcards To Swing States to go out October 1, and 200 with Moms Rising are arriving soon. All of these we learned about through your efforts, Jessica -- THANK YOU!
It went well. In the neighborhood I canvassed there was more support for Harris than trump. The trump supporters and undecideds where concerned about inflation and immigration. We need a message on that that will get through.
This evening, I am joining a bunch of local Democrats to assemble candidate yard signs and write postcards. The organizer booked a room at a local senior living center where one of Dem "Club" members resides. The room has a capacity of 40 - 45 people but over 100 signed up - many of them during/after the convention. So now the organizer has found other spaces where we can write postcards and I think I'll be holding down the fort there
I was too busy to take pictures! I wrote exactly 2 postcards myself - and then I was run off my feet trying to get people set up to write postcards. The volunteers assembling the signs quickly knocked them all so we had a lot of spillover and had volunteers who had never written a postcard in their life. Oy!
But we had a lot of enthusiatic volunteers - the organizer handed out flyers for two upcoming events - a big gathering next Saturday to launch lots of canvasses and a Sunday afternoon social event at a brewery later in the month with a food drive and local candidate forum. So hopefully the enthuiasm will be maintained.
I had already volunteered to help with postcards at the gathering next week for those who didn't want to canvass - I'm hoping it won't be quite as crazy and we can use last night's experience to be a little more organized!
Thanks Jess for all the resources. I have called or emailed my 2 state senators ( one is Senator Tammy Duckworth) and representative regarding the disgusting Arlington Cemetery incident.
I am working on 200 postcards for Arizona voters. Then I start on the vote Harris for president cards.
We are up against a vile disgusting group that does not play by any rules. We are not going back.
I coordinate a group of 40-50 who write postcards at my home or on their own, there was so much interest once Harris became the nominee that we had one writing party a week from 7/30 to 8/27!
But what I focused on in your comment was your reference to starting to write “vote Harris for President cards”; I haven’t seen ANY of those in all my sources. Do you mind sharing your source?
I didn't realize there were "Harris for President" cards. Where did you get them?
Not that I need more postcards to add to my list! 🙄🙄🙄 I have been writing "Postcards to Swing States" generic GOTV cards (through a partnership between Meck Dems and our local Indivisible chapter), plus cards for local and state races in NC. I'm also doing some through Reclaim our Vote (https://www.centerforcommonground.org/reclaim-our-vote) to focus on BIPOC voters in my county.
Our local postcard group started out doing just PCSS (the coordinator ordered 100K!!) , but then someone agreed to do postcards for Mo Green - and a bunch of other candidates must have heard about it! We also have postcards for Josh Stein, but I knew those were always in the works since that was planned by the Women for Stein group (https://www.joshstein.org/women-for-stein) of which I am a member.
Our Swing Left Inland Valley group adopted two CA swing district candidates, Will Rollins (CA41) and Derek Tran (CA45). We’ve been laser focused on canvassing, writing postcards/letters in person every Wednesday and virtually every Saturday, registering college students, fundraising, and mobilizing new volunteers to join us. There is so much energy, enthusiasm, and joy! It’s so uplifting to be part of this. Thanks, Jessica, for being such a guiding force.
Just wrapped up our weekly postcarding get-together. So far we have signed up for 500 postcards with four different organizations; everything from Check your Registration, to GOTV, to supporting Dem candidates in tight races. It started out with just two of us, but it's growing. We will likely have the time and energy to sign up for more.
I do national text banks with Field Team 6 and Phonebank’s with Call4Change, to swing states and districts. FT6 focuses exclusively on registering new Dems and independents. Although they are virtual, you do meet people and feel connected. The research is solid on the value of both!
I’ve been doing a bit of letter writing to Georgia voters and texting with Field Team 6, but my main focus will be doing shifts on voter protection hotlines, particularly Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
Do you know of any programs writing postcards into Montana? I know a group of writers in LA who are interested. Thanks, as always, for all that you do.
Called and left messages for my two GOP Senators and Dem Congressman plus I got a live person on the Oversight committee phone - she didn't seem pleased by my ironic emphasis on the last part of your script about there finally being something real for Comer to investigate.
FYI, Both my parents were WWII vets and are buried in a military cemetary in MD - which I mentioned in my messages.
I w3ill be sharing your video and the one from Vote Vets.

They are from the women’s march group
Info@womensmarchaction.com
They sent me the cards ( with a donation)
And the addresses of female voters
Women’s March Action is on face book and women’s march.action on instagram.
I hope that helps

Yes! My husband mike was on the FT6 phonebank last Saturday and will be on tomorrow's, too, I believe!

That's terrific and SO IMPORTANT!
I'll be phonebanking with the DNC call crew and doing Neighbor 2 Neighbor this weekend.
Amazing! Thank you!
