Hi, all, and happy Tuesday! Also happy actual August 29th! Sorry yesterday’s newsletter had the wrong date on it. I was getting ahead of myself. Today President Biden formally announced the first ten drugs that Medicare will be negotiating drug prices on under a critical provision of the Inflation Reduction Act. It is a huge, huge deal. These reductions will help Americans—particularly senior citizens—in meaningful ways, and Big Pharma fought them hard. In fact, they spent nearly $400 million trying to stop them, and eight pharmaceutical companies have filed lawsuits to block these price negotiations now that they’re happening.

I sent an email today to my Senators and to Senator Schumer asking why there are not investigations ongoing in the US Senate. There should be investigations into Jared Kushner's 2 Billion $ payout from the Saudi's all the voter suppression and dark money out there that is supporting voter suppression and the list goes on and on. I am wondering if this is an issue that other Senators are ready to start pushing investigations I often see many (as in reputable commentators who are progressive, center left, independent, never Trumpers, etc) asking - where is the US Senate? It isn't as if they do not have the investigative powers. The House is doing manufactured investigations. There are real things to investigate. Where is the US Senate? Fascism is on the march and this is our only investigative body that can put the information out for the American people responsibly. I would love to know your thoughts.
That's a great question. I think Durbin is doing SOME investigation into SCOTUS now but it's too little, too late. We need so much more. I had a script awhile back calling for more investigations into Harlan Crowe, etc. but I'll try to come up with something more comprehensive.
I ‘m sure this is a good article, but I have neither the heart or energy to read or hear about either DT or MAGA. I’m putting all my heart and soul into doing whatever I can to get the country I love back on track again.The politics of me first, hate and greed leaves me cold.

I hope you'll alert your followers to these concerns and encourage them to learn from the followoing resources, and add their voices to the call to legislators and the White House for real solutions, not false solutions. Hmm yes I do in general not promote carbon capture projects but this bill was recommended by the Citizen's Climate Lobby and I thought it might be good to at least encourage innovation around ways to deal with excess carbon in the atmosphere. I generally trust CCL but will do more research. Thanks!
