Thank you for including the interview with Drew Kromer of the Mecklenberg County Dems. Such specific and actionable ideas about how to help turn North Carolina blue!!

I'm in Mecklenburg Co. and have met Drew on several occasions. Both he and Anderson Clayton are balls of energy and very good at getting people fired up! I've been participating in the area social events since last fall. My precinct captain is leading up the area group where I live and I can definitely attest to the concept that it is much tougher to say no to someone you actually know!

Last fall (for our municipal election), I went door-to-door in my neighborhood delivering info on the upcoming election and what was at stake and then acted as a poll greeter at our neighborhood early voting site for several shifts.

There was a county-wide, at-large school board election with 3 seats and 13 candidates running - amongst them three "Moms for Liberty" types running under the radar as a "unity" ticket. School board is non-partisan but the Meck Dems interviewed all the candidates (or at least offered to - I'm not sure every candidate showed up) and endorsing three of them. Thankfully, this effort resulted in a sweep for the endorsed candidates. Moms for Liberty was shut out!

In addition, Drew wanted a test case for his door knocking = voter turnout hypothesis so he picked a smaller city in the north part of the county and recruited someone to run for Mayor and six people to run for the six board of commissioner seats. They held candidate forums, canvassed, and phone banked (which I helped with) to GOTV for this traditionally very-low-turnout election. Lo and behold, they ended up with a clean sweep going from 6 Republicans and 1 lone Democrat to 7 Democrats! Much to the surprise (and dismay) of the incumbent Republicans, of course. Apparently the GOP candidates complained to the county board of elections about all the volunteer poll greeters in Meck Dems t-shirts outside of the polling places handing out blue ballots. (It's perfectly legal at most polling places as long as you stay outside the specified buffer zone).

This summer I have gotten involved in a major postcarding effort for local and state-wide candidates as well general GOTV postcards through Postcards to Swing States (sponsored by Progressive Turnout Project).

You do such a great job! Thank you. One thing I keep running into is that folks keep telling me YES they will vote Harris/ Walz but the main problem is that they need a ride to and back from polls. I didn’t start to notice until it was brought to my attention I went all the way back to last weeks phone bank and am shocked that a majority don’t have rides in our area we only have Uber which is extremely expensive for the common household. I decided to go by zip codes to arrange rides quickly found out that several polling sites have changed including ours. It’s really a zoo is there anyone out there that has organized a ride to the polls campaign I desperately need to organize it before I just say “sure I’ll give you a ride”. SOS(Save OurSouls)

Hi Jessica, I've been trying to get Harris/Walz yard signs. Cal Dem site has just black and white and only available after Sept. 15. Commercial sites want an arm and a leg and$$$ doesn't go to campaign. ay ideas???

Reaaly want to get them put there and only one on my long street. I want a pile of them to pass out to neighbors and make sure they check their registration.

See you Sept. 15 at the dessert thing with Robert, if my RSVP got in in time.

I got mine from our County Democratic Headquarters last week. Had to go pick them up, and they were $15@ or 2/$25. Payable to my county's Democratic Committee, so a fundraiser for them. Although I understand they had to pay something for the signs as well. Anyway, I'm in California, so I don't know if that means anything. And I googled to get their location.

My father is interred at Arlington cemetery for his Army service in WWll. He is dishonored by T****publicity preening the other day. I know my father would have been very angry and hurt by such a false show. Oh, and additionally, he worked for the western region of the US federal govt for over 30 years helping the “hard core” unemployed better their lives.

In respect to my father, I post here.

Is there a contact at Arlington to whom I may address?

Thank you, and to all others in this position.

Thank You Jessica from the link to the MeckDems interview with Drew Kromer. He is a vital young organizer and thoroughly explaining the plan to flip North Carolina blue. This helps everyone. I was very impressed with his work and donated to help hire staff to handle all the great volunteers they have signed up to canvass & such.

In NC, it is optional, but their are check boxes to list your gender, race, ethnicity, and party preference on the voter registration application.

Hi Wendy. Go back and read more slowly. It says Democratic registration has increased by over 50%, Republicans only 7%. If you first registered a long time ago you may have forgotten there is usually a box asking the person to check the party they consider themselves to be in, or wish to vote for. This helps when it comes to primary elections for the President every 4 years. A person can also check off "No Party Preference" or "Independent." Those voter's registrations don't factor into the numbers in the article. And almost everyone filling out the form is a nice person and telling the truth, so please don't worry about this.
