All I can say is, my (sometimes grumpy) father who kept telling me "I'm not gonna watch this whole thing Jules, I don't do these live rah rah rallys" surely DIDN'T change the channel the entire night until Bidens speech was over!! 👀😆 It was electrifying!

WOW. That's amazing. Yeah, I'm not really a convention-watcher either. Yet I did, basically all of it. And will again tonight!

OMG. You nailed it. Last night was exhilarating! I'm not sure what my expectations were going on but they were surpassed. As you noted, there were so many highlights -- AOC, HRC, Senator Reverend Warnock (the passage about children had me on my feet in my kitchen), Shawn Fain, Jamie Raskin (his line about Trump's chameleon JD Vance was an instant classic), Jasmine Crockett, Hadley Duvall, Joe Biden. But also Mallory McMorrow, Steve Kerr and many others. It was like watching your team in the World Series and everyone is hitting it out of the park. But it was late for us east coasters and now I'm thinking I may need a nap before tonight. We had a live chat in our DNC Watch Party Slack Channel at Markers For Democracy and it was moving fast and furious. But mostly we were all so proud to be Democrats last night. At the beginning some of us were trying to write postcards while we watched but at some point we realized that we were too transfixed by the speeches.

Love that! Also I hope you guys got some new volunteers after yesterday? I posted your campaigns in the newsletter and talked about them on a TikTok about postcarding!

Thank you! Yes! Folks are tearing through these lists. I have to go on TikTok to find it. I am far from a digital native but will ask the 22-year-old to help find it.

Oh it's on IG and YouTube also. No big deal it's not a marquee piece--I just mention you guys and some of the campaigns you're working on.

I’m celebrating all this joy by writing postcards all week long. And isn’t it wonderful to be part of a democratic project so alive and so much bigger than ourselves? Let’s win this for America.

What an amazing night with Joe topping it off with his amazing speech!! I am so so proud to be a Democrat! Thanks for your great post re-capping everything! The only thing I can say is I wish James Taylor's song hadn't been eliminated because of extra-long speeches by some, and I guess (I heard) traffic jams getting all the delegates there. Oh well, but Joe was worth the wait!!!

I “met” Liza Donnelly ( some may be familiar with her New Yorker cartoons) here on CW,CW. She is watching and drawing the DNC speakers with selected quotes.

I felt that Biden's speech was a bit of double speak and political pandering when he claimed to be working for peace in Gaza. We have continued to fund weapons (of mass destruction) being sent to Israel including a very recent $6 billion for more! The war may have a chance of ending if we stop supplying weapons to Israel. Of course I want Kamala to be elected and I would also like our leaders to stop talking peace while supplying weapons

Right on, Alice! I would only add: Democratic voters need to hold the people we are electing accountable for what they do, not just gush over what they say or say they are doing. And as one of the demonstrators in the street has said: Palestine is about all of us who have been left out, kicked out(of our homes because of medical costs)and thrown out by the Democratic Party who have not kept their promises, but have spent the dollars needed here at home to fund their wars.
