I can’t even figure what they’re trying to say with the sperm cups. Like, obviously they’re being horrible, but, like, what’s the narrative? “Vance will help you do the thing we want to outlaw”? “Vance is more virile than your husband so use this instead”? The more I think about it, the less I understand!
Is it possible that the fundamental ideological difference here involves humor? I mean, people have been noting for a long time that Republicans aren’t funny. Is it possible that they just can’t tell the difference between humor and cruelty, and everything else springs from that? WHAT IS THE JOKE, MAGA?
One explanation I’ve now seen is that it’s about how Walz and his wife needed IVF to conceive? In which case I guess the narrative is “Our VP pick doesn’t need IVF like yours so go fuck yourself.” Which also doesn’t make a whole lot of sense but is at least consistent with the Republican message: “The only valid needs are our needs.”
Jessica Craven - I'm so happy a fellow subscriber (from Heather Cox Richardson) recommended your CHOP WOOD, CARRY WATER substack. There is so much talent in this daily pool of journalists. I love your group of shared bloggers and the thoroughness and trusted optimism helps us share your orbit in order to get our citizens engaged in civic responsibility and volunteerism. ¡Muchas Gracias! Thanks!

Jess, you have captured the craziness of trumpworld. There is no rhyme or reason for the weirdness. Period. Despite the media's best attempts to normalize this junk, it stands on its own. Too Weird For Words (as we always said in middle school in the 1970's). I share it with you freely ;-)

They are the joke!

Which again, not a joke, just another “own the lib” moment…and this is so rich from people who are afraid of books and drag queens.
It’s like trying to play chess with someone who thinks you win by eating the pieces.
🤣👏
