I cried when I saw the French celebrating their election victory. My fondest dream is to be cheering and jumping up and down exactly like they are today, celebrating a Democratic victory over Fascism this November. Thank you, Jess!
Me too.We have a lot of work ahead of us, but just imagine Putin's smirking face and that will get your juices flowing. Something else I noticed about the crowd--most of them were YOUNG! That's encouraging.
I signed on with Postcards to Swing States, at https://www.turnoutpac.org/postcards/, today. Thanks for all your information and encouragement. You really do make a difference. All the best to everyone.
Me as well. I have 100 to write (just me—will order another 100 if I think I can complete them). I liked them because there is time to write the cards, and they don’t request that I submit a proof, of what I will write. And TurnoutPAC also provides the postcards.
Yes. Forgot that part. They provide a sample illustration to show how to fit everything on the postcard using the script that has been shown to work the best.
Thank you for all of this, Jess, and in particular the info about Battleground California. I've been writing postcards through Activate America for Calif. congressional races, and am so happy to see this coalition working on those races and more.
Activate America also has Spanish language postcard campaigns for those who would like to do that.
I teach private Spanish classes on my patio and will have my students write some letters in Spanish for Activate America to learn some new political vocabulary. My students are all on team blue :-)
We need great graphics of Project 2025 that can be easily shared on social media. I've seen some but they are just not the best--too long, too vague, etc. If you're trying to reach someone who is not familiar with Project 2025, it seems like it would be best have something to quickly grab their attention. Any suggestions? Thanks for all you do--hope you've turned a corner and begin to feel much better soon.
Signed both letters and donated to Battleground CA. Also, at my next postcard party on the patio for Center for Common Ground (this weekend), our donation jar will be for Battleground CA.
Also, thanks to Trina Warren for the suggestion re: letter writing in Spanish. I teach Spanish on the patio and will have my students write some letters in Spanish for Activate America to learn some new political vocabulary. We are all on team blue :-)
Ciao Jessica, I was so sorry to hear you caught Covid! I hope you are feeling better soon! I just want to remind your followers that US citizens living abroad CAN VOTE!!! There are 6.5 million of us expats living outside the US, but only a fraction of us know that we can vote. Please help spread the word by telling everyone you know who may be studying abroad this fall or living abroad to request their overseas ballots from https://votefromabroad.org Our overseas votes have proven to be the margin of victory in many tight races!
Like many others I've stepped up my volunteering lately. Do more, worry less. I'm almost at 200 Vote Forward letters, have Blue Wave postcards arriving, and signed up to text voters with Field Team 6. I've also volunteered to help organize data for a local postcarding group. It feels good to direct my energy towards winning.
Also, I've mostly been off social media but poked my head in and was thrilled to see one of my elderly relatives post about the horrors of Project 2025. I think it's starting to break through. In addition I learned that a former colleague who was at one time a Republican is supporting Biden, even after the debate. And I've been able to see another lifelong Republican relative abandon Trump. I don't know if he'll vote Dem, but he's sure as hell not voting Trump. This is of course all anecdotal but something feels different compared to only a few years ago.
I cannot resist. Even an ailing Jessica cranks out pearls of wisdom.
Local and regional campaign efforts play a significant role in achieving broader goals, and their importance should be reinforced, not underestimated. Grassroots organizing, voter outreach, and community engagement remain essential components.
It's beneficial for public leaders– progressive, D, or non-partisan, and media and pundits to provide a balanced view that acknowledges challenges while highlighting steps being taken by various groups. This approach helps maintain morale and encourage continued participation and support from the base. Despite the cynicism in today’s media, there are significant increases in activities indicating a rising commitment to democratic engagement.
Great quote: We need inspirational quotes during this period of transformation that we can't fully understand yet: " This ancient wisdom provides reassurance that the current challenges could be a necessary precursor to significant positive change.
It is great that readers are contributing to what they are doing. That is inspiring.
I just got off the excellent Field Team 6 event you mentioned in the newsletter. It was rejuvenating and inspiring, just what I needed. Your name came up in the meeting as well as in the chat sidebar, about how you inspire others. Thank you for all you do. Please, though, take care of yourself. Rest is essential.
Doanted to both battlegrounds. Thanks for the info. Now I hope I don't get inundated with a zillion texts and emails... Hope you are feeling better esch day Jessica!
Take it easy. This is not a quick fix. I love the video of the crowds in France. That is beyond heartening.

But you do need to stick to one of their three scripts, FYI. Very important!
Yes. Forgot that part. They provide a sample illustration to show how to fit everything on the postcard using the script that has been shown to work the best.
Thank you, Ryan!
Another example of what I was getting at in my comment earlier. We are strong. We are growing. We will win!

And T Marie Stationary responded to a request and now stocks a voter postcard in Spanish besides the English options. https://tmarie.co/collections/postcards-2

Love that, Cindy! What a great way to help!
Oh bravo!

I found one that's not terrible--I'll put it in the newsletter today. But yes, I agree.
The Democrats 2024 campaign on the Reach app has some good material that is easy to share. Here's a link for those who are users of the Reach app: https://app.reach.vote/library/label/8fe7a281-3f02-4527-8cd4-e58ba27873ea?campaign=dnc-content
The DNC website has info on how to setup and use Reach on it's website. Here's a link: https://democrats.org/reach/

Thanks so much!
Simon Rosenberg posted it in his newsletter yesterday. Someone on twitter... now I can't find it. It was in his morning post.
Donated and signed. Get well soon!
Thanks, Bev!

This is amazing, Jason. Thank you!

Thank you, Fran-Michelle! I meant to be there but I ran out of steam--completely--in the afternoon.
What can we do to influence the press and their lopsided coverage of T and Biden?
Good question. I'd say letters to the editor are your best bet.
Please continue to heal. Love, Doc
Thanks, Doc.

If you do just unsubscribe. That's what I do!
I'm an organizer for LeanLeft Vt -- where can I get that video! We need it.
Ah! Found it! https://x.com/Taniel/status/1810077369547321826
Email me and I'll send it to you. I downloaded it from twitter but now can't find the original --it's so weird.
Thanks, as always, for your encouragement. Take care of yourself. Get healthy!!
Trying! Thanks!
