Hi, all, and happy Monday! I’m safely and happily ensconced in our old house in Rose Bay, NS. More family members are arriving by the minute. The next two weeks will be precious, sweet, loud, and restful, and will enable me to charge back into the fray with all the fervor you’ve come to expect.
So very happy for you, Jessica!! Nova Scotia is such a beautiful place and the people are lovely. One of the best places I can think of anywhere to decompress. Please enjoy every minute, commune with Nature and get lots of sleep. Recharging, especially for someone as active and engaged as you are,
I hope you have a great time, you're in a beautiful place.
In respect of a beef free lifestyle, more people are likely to respond positively to eating sustainably raised beef, pork, and chicken than to giving it up entirely. All three meats are readily available in most places, and some major stores like Fresh Thyme offer them as their primary options. Bought on sale, they're not significantly more expensive than standard commodity products and offer better flavor, more forgiving cooking and the bonus of improving the ecosphere.
Rose Bay! What a surprise! I knew dear friends who moved there in the early '70's and built a wonderful home. We met many good friends in our Bridgewater bookstore. I remember it as a beautiful place and am glad to know you have a few weeks respite there.
I usually listen to your writing on Substack in the late evening. But if I open the email earlier in the day, then I am more likely to take the suggested actions. Maybe that's why you send it around noon PST. Glad I finally figured it out and adjusted my system.
Oh good! And yeah, in an ideal world I'd send it much earlier every day but I just can't seem to get it out before then. You can always take actions from the day before, too. Few of these are super time sensitive.
"It’s better framing to talk about “using more clean energy” than about “using less fossil fuels.”" Hmm. Kinda puts the onus on all of us rather than just the oil barrons, and the cattle ranchers for that matter. We seem to be such a "more" society, that using "more" of this is indeed a positive. And don't forget...."more" time off 😉
Hi! I didn't know I had readers in Lunenberg! Yes, the weather is stunning, and I know it has been quite the opposite for awhile. We got lucky, indeed.
Can you give us Georgians some info to reply to state legislature regarding SB88 in the Ga legislature? It’s an anti-trans bill affecting kids, families and schools.

Thanks, Laurie!

I think any reduction is good, and yes, eating sustainably raised beef when eating it is really important.

Thank you for your daily good work.
You had a bookstore in Bridgewater? Is it still there? Wow!
Just donated thanks for the link.
Thanks, Jason!
Awesome Jason! Thanks

We are a "more" society, indeed.
Welcome back to Lunenburg County. You managed to miss 6 weeks of rain and got here for beautiful weather.

Thanks so much!
H/T Pepper needs to identify the specific election.

I just googled it and it seems it was killed in committee back in March? Or did it somehow come back?
