Thank you again for your diligent work and inspiration. My Resisters' List is following your guidance. Enjoy Lunenberg--- we were all booked to celebrate our 50th anniversary there with our kids and grandkids when Covid prevented travel to Canada. I understand it is a World Heritage Site! I trust you are staying cool and relaxing and unwinding. I am glad you are taking care of yourself.
It's a beautiful part of the world. I've been coming here every summer for about 25 years--my husband and I got married here. I'm so sorry your trip got eaten by COVID. I hope you get a chance to come some other time. It really is lovely.
Dear CEO John Stankey, Ed Gillespie, David McAtee and the general AT&T leadership:
I write to condemn your corporate hypocrisy, double-dealing, and grandstanding.
The very day the US Supreme Court delivered its heinous, anti-women Dobbs decision eradicating the 50-year right to abortion AT&T proclaimed support for its female employees, offering to reimburse travel expenses for medical expenses including abortion.
It sure sounded good.
But then—-quietly, of course, and on almost the same day-—AT&T donated $214,000 to the lawmakers behind Texas’ draconian SB8 abortion ban.(This information comes courtesy of new campaign finance filings from the Texas Ethics Commission reported by Popular Information.)
You recently wrote $50,000 in checks to the Texas Republican Legislative Caucus and the Associated Republicans of Texas Campaign Fund—-two committees that consistently and aggressively push to elect anti-abortion candidates.
You also made a $10,000 donation on June 30 to Texas Representative Dustin Burrows, who more than championed the Texas ban: he also supported a trigger law that bans all abortion from the moment of fertilization with no exceptions for rape or incest.
On April 21 you also donated $20,000 to Texas Lt. Governor and Senate President Dan Patrick. Patrick not only supported SB8 and the trigger law but is pushing for further restrictions on reproductive rights. Patrick's list of priorities for the next legislative session includes "protecting the unborn.” One proposal under discussion is penalties for companies that pay for out-of-state travel.
Last (but not least), on May 22 you gave $5,000 to Texas Senator Bryan Hughes, the author of SB8. He also supports forcing rape victims to give birth.
Does any of this sound supportive of women and girls? Not to me. I'll be finding another cell phone carrier and spreading the word far and wide. Your hypocrisy literally disgusts me.
Thank you. Just signed up for this Zoom. Been volunteering on Dem campaigns for 24 years, volunteering on two now, age 73 post hip replacement (I still run--gotta stay in shape for the Revolution!). Pretty slammed, mostly affiliated with the county Democrats here in NM, have never joined an Indivisible; there are several groups in the area. Thank you again for your work.
Wishing you a great time in Nova Scotia. I recently returned from a visit to Cape Breton and Newfoundland, and so appreciate the beautiful surroundings, and the idea of semi-vacationing. There is no real vacation from life, for those with a conscience.
True, especially at the moment. I've never been to either of those places and want to go so badly. We always get caught up with big family gatherings and never get to take weekend trips elsewhere in the area. I've got to change that,

I appreciate all the heavy lifting you do to make it easy for us to be activists.

Thanks for nothing.
