Hi, all, and happy Thursday!
I’m at LAX getting ready to board a flight to New York—our epic summer travels are about to begin. In the next three weeks we’ll be in upstate New York, then Maine, then back to New York, and finally in Nova Scotia.
This newsletter will be truncated today, as we get on the plane immanently, but I’ve got a couple of important actions for you below. Thanks for taking them!
Every day may feel like a battle, y’all, but at least we’re in this fight together. I’d have it no other way. Thank you for all you do. The world is a better place because you’re in it.
Call Your Senators (find yours here) 📲
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is ______.
I’m calling to ask the Senator to co-sponsor the bipartisan PROVE IT Act, S.1863. This bill directs the Department of Energy to study average product emissions intensity, which is a necessary first step for implementing a U.S. carbon border tariff. With climate change already causing massive disruptions we need to move quickly and aggressively to minimize the damage. Please ask the Senator to prioritize this bill. [H/T and more info]
On a related note, any bill that the House sends to the Senate that contains cuts to climate funding needs to be opposed. We’re facing an existential crisis. We need to deal with it head on or face catastrophe. No climate cuts. Thanks.
Call Your House Rep (find yours here) 📲
Hi, I'm a constituent calling from [zip]. My name is _______.
I understand that House Republicans struck three Democratic projects that would provide services to the LGBTQ community during Tuesday’s fiscal 2024 Transportation-HUD Appropriations markup. Such attacks on the LGBTQ community are part of a growing pattern in the Republican Caucus, and I want to make sure the Congressmember knows that I’m disgusted by it. These attacks are meanspirited, divisive, and cause real injuries to vulnerable communities. Any politician who votes for them will lose my vote permanently. We need to stop the attacks and pass the EQUALITY Act now.
Chop Wood, Save the Planet! 🔥
Y’all! Looking for an empowering and action-oriented way to approach climate change? I have a special opportunity for a small group of you! Join a Carbon CREW class with me!
This "book club on a mission" empowers groups of people to design and implement their own Personal Climate Action Plan (PCAP), working to reduce the two-thirds of emissions that result from household decisions and inspire a regenerative shift in our culture. In collaboration with a small group of climate-conscious people, we'll read and discuss Damon Gameau's visionary 2040 Handbook, crafting our own PCAP in the process. Your PCAP is a personalized blueprint guiding you towards a more regenerative lifestyle within the next five years.
We'll meet once a week for five weeks at 3:00 pm Eastern beginning on August 15th.

Resistbot Letter (new to Resistbot? Go here! And then here.) 💻
Y’all, this Resistbot was written by one of my subscribers, who is working with a coalition in CA to push President Biden to expand the boundary of California’s San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. Can we all please send it and ask friends in California to send it too?
[to President Biden] [Quick send: text SIGN PGZMUP to 50409]
I’m writing to urge you to expand the boundary of California’s San Gabriel Mountains National Monument by issuing a presidential proclamation under the Antiquities Act of 1906. The additional 109,167 acres will protect the mountains’ natural, cultural, and recreational resources, and will provide critical habitat for threatened and endangered species.
The San Gabriel Mountains provide a third of Los Angeles’ drinking water and 70% of its open space for 15 million people. Expanding the boundary will increase access to nature and promote environmental justice for many underserved communities. It will help us move closer to conserving 30% of California’s land and coastal waters by 2030, in line with the Biden-Harris Administration’s America the Beautiful initiative.
By issuing the proclamation, this Administration will create opportunities for healthier living, preserve biodiversity to meet the challenges of climate change, and allow future generations to become stewards of the Mountains and their natural wonders. Thank you!
OK, you did it again! You helped save democracy! You’re amazing.
Talk soon.
