I read just a few sentences into today's post and started weeping. I am tired. My dem groups are working their butts off and I'm so proud of them. They're tired. We're doing everything we can, phoning, texting, post carding, spending money on local advertising, writing letters to the editor, showing ourselves in local events, and buying radio time. It's a lot to juggle but I'm certain there are a good many Independents and Republicans horrified by the prospect of Trump/Vance in the White House. Keep the faith, you all. Keep the faith.

I signed onto the letter of 1400+ Black Women Leaders, and have passed it on to others I think will be as thrilled as I was to sign.

This morning I left phone messages for Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries and Nancy Pelosi. My basic message: "I voted for President Biden and I want my vote to count. Please stop undermining Biden's candidacy and turn your energies to exposing the horrors of Trump, Vance and Project 2025."

Their phone numbers:

Chuck Schumer (202) 224-6542

Hakeem Jeffries (202) 225-5936

Nancy Pelosi (202) 225-4965

Just now, I get an alert that three reps in my state of MN, including the one in my distract, all have called for Biden to step down. I LOVE my rep and she does such amazing things, so now I'm just angry. I may have to borrow your script for calling my rep. Maddening!

Thank you for posting this. I appreciate how Hakeem Jeffries handled the reporters and stuck to his message. I will leave him a message of thanks.

I am energized today !Has anyone seen the interview this morn with Jen O’Malley, Biden’s campaign chair. Biden is IN…despite all the media bull@#$& and quoted anonymous sources. She said they door knocked on ~ 100,000 doors in the PAST WEEK and 76% were for Biden! Take that for a poll! Still a lot of work to do but Biden can win and Cheatolini just keeps making it easier! ✍️📲💲📣🚶‍♀️👕🛒

Yes, I saw this and felt so much better. And then immediately after, it started up again. Even on the very same MSNBC, reports of Biden preparing for an exit plan. More Dems calling for him to step down. It's demoralizing and exhausting. Why? WHY?

I just donated to Biden’s campaign (again) to show support for him.

I’ve cancelled my WaPo subscription and I’ve left messages for Schumer, Jeffries, and Pelosi. I have already written 200 postcards and have 100 more to go. We need to be the loud voices explaining how the Republicans will ruin our government and our lives. Keep our positive energy flowing and we will win BIG in November.

Let's take a lesson from the GOP. They're united behind a perverse criminal mob boss with no regard for the law or constitutional norms who can't say two coherent sentences in a row. And that seems to be fine with the GOP. The MSM seems to be oblivious to the threat of Trump's limited mental capabilities. The GOP nominated a replacement option who shares the mob boss's values and styles. And they both lie constantly to convince supporters they're all for them. Really, they're both for the rich, low taxes, and gutting the federal government's regulatory scope to the detriment of America's well-being. Meanwhile we are pulling every last hair on our collective heads because our candidate had a bad debate performance and has less energy than he did 10 years ago. Our candidate has proved he's the most competent chief executive the country has had since FDR and all Americans are better off for it. But we want to replace the "great" with the "perfect". We also have a perfectly capable person who can step in if the President becomes incapable of governing. Forcing Biden out with a hope and a prayer that a younger candidate, even Kamala, would be a "safer" candidate is very, very high risk. Wake up Democrats! Our job isn't to disenfranchise our great President. Our job is to convince Democrats and persuadable Independents that Biden is the best option for President because of his values and his extraordinary governing capabilities. Our leadership should be onboard with this approach and getting the party faithful onboard. Now!!

I'm feeling so disgruntled and demoralized by the disunity within the Democratic party, particularly because it feels connected to large donors which is NOT how we win. Every time I feel like things are on the upswing, I see some other new voice trickle in. Watching AOC's video from last night was also disheartening. The alternatives seem completely disastrous to me, and I need them to STFU. That these people would put so much at jeopardy rather than capitalize on that disastrous acceptance speech is... I don't have words. And then I went to the newspapers online to see if the headlines were a match for the level of post-debate, and I saw that utterly disgusting WaPo headline and about lost my mind. I don't have a subscription anyway but my goodness.

My postcards came in the mail today, and I have my Activate America list for Ohio, and I know doing that will help. But my mood is super low and anxious and, honestly, disgusted by certain people within the party. :/

I hear you loud and clear. I find it very perplexing. Did these people all of a sudden get scared ?

Why the turnaround so late in the campaign ? They all talk about how wonderful President Biden is as a person and as the President and then turn around and say but he should step down!!!

Well I’m ignoring them all. Back to my reality of supporting Joe as always. We are going to win.

Get use to it.

Thank you everyone for such honest and respectful conversation. It's so good we are all working for the same thing AND having our own smart and independent thinking. I too, am very worried. I just want to win. Who will WIN? And how can we possibly change candidates now, just logistically and legally? I am still in for Biden. I value the discussion and don't want to be in denial about realities. Thanks you all. I am uplifted by you every day.

Dear sweet Jess,

I am so grateful to you for all that you do! I'm grateful to this entire community for your/our commitment and endurance. This is what love looks like to me. That web you so eloquently describe is very real to me and incredibly strong and resilient. We can trust that. We really can!

I like to imagine each one of us as a little diamond at a juncture in the net and when we settle into our tough, brilliant diamond self the love that we experience can be sent out onto the web to our nearest neighbors and even further. pulsing, pulsing, pulsing the strength that true compassion and kindness

bring. When I can't reach that place of compassion I go to MUSIC. It works for me every time.

The music that gets me there isn't particularly high-brow classical (although it can be at times)

It's Indigo Girls, Emma's Revolution, Pete Seeger, the Doobie Brothers, Steve Winwood, Dylan, Joni, etc. etc. Something different will work for each one of us.

One thing that really dims the light in my 'self' is focusing on the qualities in my adversary that inspire fear and anger in me (and whoa, my rage can be volcanic...has been recently!) All that power!

Mud-slinging and returning insult for insult hurts! I feel it physically. Anyway, I won't go on and on.

I just wanted to share my gratitude to all y'all and the MUSIC, MUSIC, MUSIC! MOVEMENT-- (DANCING!)

Sunday Phone bank for Joe Biden

Simon Rosenberg's substack today. (Direct quote)

https://txt.democrats.org/xd5m/

“I also got this text from the Biden-Harris campaign this morning:

Hi, Simon. I'm Rachel with the Democrats. I'm volunteering this weekend to talk to voters in key states. Our phone bank will feature Roohi Rustum, the Team Biden-Harris National Organizing Director, who will kick us off this Sunday, July 21, at 1 PM ET. Can I count on you to join us?

For those who want to help Joe Biden this weekend this looks like a really good way to do so.
