Hi, all, and happy Friday. First of all, I want to extend a warm welcome to my new subscribers. You’ve come to a place where hope is not a feeling, but an action. We do small things to help move our country in a healthy direction and find hope in the process. It really works!
I am writing in deep frustration and disappointment in the collapse of the climate change provisions in the current budget reconciliation bill in the U.S. Senate. I reckon that President Biden has done his level best to help to bolster the razor-thin Democratic margin in the Senate, but has come up short due to recalcitrance from Senator Manchin, and the entire body of Republican Senators. Shame on them, shame on all of them. Our children and grandchildren will suffer mightily for this lost opportunity to put ourselves back on track as the primary contributor to the climate crisis. Shame on us.
What can the President do about this? Everything in his power as the Chief Executive! Let's get started by use of executive order and administrative prerogative. BLOCK all oil and gas infrastructure projects, especially Conoco's Willow Project and any new offshore oil and gas leasing in federal waters. And please, DECLARE A CLIMATE EMERGENCY. It is long past time.
Now that it is clear that the Senator from West Virginia has not been negotiating in good faith, there is no need to kowtow to oil and gas and coal vested interests. The future of humanity on this planet is at stake.

The Lux signup link is broken. Thank you so much Jess!
I have a question. If I reply back to the email you send out, does it go directly to you?
I appreciate everything you do. It's helped me tremendously to be more active.
Hi Jessica: Great newsletter as usual. I tried to sign up for the Mike Lux and the link didn't work. Maybe it's me? Thanks, Ellen
Thanks! I got it and signed up.
Following up on Ellen's comment. It's not working for me either.
