Hi, all, and happy Wednesday. I slept and dreamt that life was joy I awoke and saw that life was service I acted and behold, service was joy Tagore I want to thank the reader who sent me these lines yesterday. So beautiful, and so absolutely relevant to what we’re doing here.
My view is similar to yours - that our side thrives in service to others, while the other side wallows in self-service. Serving the greater good is what democracy should be about.
What a wonderful poem and preamble today, Jessica.
When I first joined CWCW, I sorta ignored the incoming emails because I was reluctant. Then I started actually reading them and thought, "No, I couldn't possibly do that!" Until one day I took the bull by the horns, as they say, found my courage and - voila! - now you can't tear me away because of the joy I feel while serving 😉
Keep up the good work and pay it forward. If everyone did that the world we live in would be a much saner and safer place. Thank you for your service to bring democracy to the masses
SCOTUS: the 6-alarm majority is much too young for us to wait for their terms to "expire". We need to act asap to prevent any more destructive rulings by them. Expanding the Court n-o-w would help us more. My thoughts.
Jess, two things. I follow a lot of legal scholars. Term limits for Supreme Court Justices require a Constitutional Amendment. That is not realistic goal. What is more realistic is to ask for ethics reform (Sheldon Whitehouse has a bill) and for a potential court expansion which can be done by statute by abolishing the filibuster.
I think that a rules change is possible is the Senate and do not understand why Schumer isn’t pursuing that to stop the practice that allows Tuberville to do this to the military. Can a call to action include calls to Schumer’s office to do this?

I only recently became aware of this newsletter, and read it for the first time. I commend you Jess; you seem to be a kindred spirit. Thx and best wishes. *Note - I do 'not' write a Substack column. Creating it was simply a fat finger error, that as I thought of it later, served my sense of humor, so I've not made the effort to delete it's presence. Cheers ~
I had a very interesting conversation with a member of Sen. Eric Schmitt's team in which he noted that there has been substantial call volume in regard to the Senator from Alabama and his comments on white nationalism as well as the nearly treasonous (aid and comfort to the enemy) obstruction of military confirmations. If the rest of the Senate Republican clique gets the same volume of calls, there's a greater than zero chance that they might gang up on Tuberville and get him to shut up and stand down.
It is, intentionally, the definition of treason in Article III, Section 3, Clause 1 of the United States Constitution. The document may not have the meaning it once did, but it is still the controlling document in the establishment and authority of the federal government and Mr. Tuberville, like all of his colleagues, took an oath to support and defend it. His current conduct seems rather far from that and it's unfortunate that we don't have an 'old country lawyer' like Sam Ervin in the Senate now who would call him out for it.
Great words and a great interpretation, Jess.

We need a BLUE WAVE to wash away the RED TIDE!
Indeed!
So, I get to do laundry while I write postcards for OH 🤗
YESSSS! And I get to multitask while I make calls for Lashrecse Aird in VA!

Thank you, Patrick!

Believe me, I'm for ALL of it!

Thank you so much!
Love the opening quote.
Yes I'll put a call on that in today's issue.

Welcome to the team, friend! And thanks!

"Aid and comfort to the enemy." What a perfect way to assess what it is that that senator is doing.

100%! Here's hoping!
I slept and dreamt that life was joy
I awoke and saw that life was service
I acted and behold, service was joy

YES, YES, YES! Thank you, and I love how you reframed the phone calls you do! It's really quite simple, isn't it! SERVE!
Jess, here is the info on a possible rules change. https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/4057516-democrats-fed-up-with-tuberville-want-to-change-senate-rules/amp/
