Hi, all, and happy Tuesday, I’m bursting with pride right now. Why? Well, I’m sitting on a call into a California state legislative committee meeting—the committee in question is weighing a bill called the Gun Violence Prevention, Healing, and Recovery Act
Thank you for everything you do Jessica. SO grateful to have your hard work and insight. In particular, I want to thank you today for including the letter opposing Deepsea Mining. It is an issue few know about but one that will have a catastrophic effect on our oceans. We all need to speak up against it NOW. Thank you again for all you do!
Thank you for your important volunteer work. It is people like you that gives me hope we can take back our country from extremist who would rather see children dying in the streets than give up their AR15 assult weapons.
Thanks for 'leading the way'. Your emails greatly assist me in staying informed on current issues and topics. Along with my personal local issues, I check your emails daily and try my best to both call and contact via 'resist bot' my Senators and House Rep on a daily basis. Onward!
Jessica, I tried to call in but couldn't - there were too many others already on the call! I was so happy to hear person after person from Moms Demand (and other organizations) in support of the bill. I heard a few familiar names, including yours! Thank you for all you do!
Jess Thanks for all your work. I look forward to your daily posting and your weekly list of all the good things and send them to many of my friends and family who are often discouraged. I would like to suggest an action of contacting Senator Schumer's office to ask him to change the Senate rules to end the hostage taking of Tuberville over the military's abortion policy. This is not supportive of our military or our national security. I called his office and they did not seem to know what I was talking about. I think this is a really important issue. Thanks so much!
Sorry. I did not see this comment. It is my understanding that Senate rules can be changed with majority rule. If they could abolish the filibuster, the should be able to abolish this practice
Thank you for these links and info, Jessica. I had no idea there was still anything that could be done to stop deep sea mining, so that's really good to know.
And I second how inspiring today was for AB28. I was one of those "me, too's" and it was wonderful to hear both the advocacy for our bill, and also to listen to the discussion for the bills that came up earlier. Democracy in action is really, really beautiful.
(Would it be okay with you if I linked this article on Mastodon?)

Yes yes yes! Of course! And if you see any other advocacy campaigns working on it please let me know and I'll amplify!

Yes! Did you see today's newsletter? Tomorrow I'll do Schumer, although I'm not sure what he can do about it.
