When I called Josh Hawley's D.C. office today I got an automated response that "Service to this number has been suspended, and calls are not being taken at this time". Guessing that since he lied on the record about not supporting cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, etc. people are a little upset. I got voice-mail at his St. Louis office and asked why he had lied. Schmitt's office phone went to voice-mail immediately, but he is so drenched in Kool-aid that it won't make any difference.

for Susan Collins, I just read this:

Well, well, well Texans looks like we can have a role in stopping Trump's Big BS Bill after all.

Turns out Susan Collins depends on donations from @southwestair. According to Open Secrets, they gave her $8k directly and another $44k came from people associated with the company. I'd flood every social media account, Google review, and whatever else you can find of theirs and ask them to tell Senator Collins to vote NO on the budget bill.

I found their CEO info, though it seems impossible to reach through the phone

Reach out directly to the executive contacts via email:

• Bob Jordan (CEO): bob.jordan@wnco.com

• Michelle Buckley (Sr. Director of Customer Relations): michelle.buckley@wnco.com

• Tony Roach (VP, Customer Experience): tony.roach@wnco.com

Include your full contact info and state clearly that this matter requires executive attention. (not sure about that one! Though it definitely requires executive attention…)

Hammond Lumber's website has posted a disclaimer at the top of the website, which seems good insofar as they are disowning any support for Collins:

"Statement on Misinformation:

Please be aware of a video circulating online that falsely claims Hammond Lumber Company donates to Senator Susan Collins. These claims are entirely untrue. Hammond Lumber Company does not make political donations to any candidate or party. We encourage everyone to verify information through credible sources. Our focus has always been on serving our customers, employees, and local communities with integrity and transparency."

I gave them my feedback based on what Jessica Craven and one other person had posted. From what I understand the CEO and various members of that family do contribute to Susan Collins’ campaign. The company as a whole may disavow their support for her, but from what I read, several members of the family have given her a considerable sum of money

So? What is the poison holding Trump's attack on America together? And, it's not just Trump's attack., The whole of the GOP IS complicit in attacking America. The poisonous weapons they bring are hatred, intolerance, fear and greed. Collectively, America is the wealthiest country in human history. But rather than continuing to build a better society, Trump and the GOP want to burn down our humane social programs, disrupt the best work of our educational institutions, cripple our healthcare system, deport as inhumanly as possible, hard working immigrants and attack our most vulnerable Americans. They manufacture hatred to gaslight liberal America. Everyday Trump finds new hateful ways to attack America and Americans. The GOP goose steps right behind him. Why? They hate Liberals. Liberals want to help the poor and the needy.. Liberals believe in equality. Liberals respect citizens who are not like them. The GOP hates that and will use government policy to stop it. At the end of the day, Trump and his GOP, in their greed, want to take the government funds for the poor and give it back to the rich in the form of tax cuts even if it swells our deficit We will defeat Trump's hatred and greed. We are rising up to return America to it's noble mission of tolerance and equality. We will bring the sun out again

Sen. Collins’ number has a recording saying it’s “out of service.” Got through to the other two fine. Thanks for the numbers. I also called and emailed sponsors of the Senators, as Jessica suggested under Extra Credit. That was fun and interesting.

🍁 Elbows UP! 🏒

Most people will be celebrating Independence Day this long weekend, so there will be a lot of drinking.

Booze and protests are a volatile mix. There aren't a lot of protests scheduled on America's birthday for this reason.

Instead, the next major nationwide protest is being planned for mid July.

There are still some less confrontational protests planned for the 4th.

Bring signage to make your message and numbers passively visible to events you attend, such as 4th of July concerts, parades, bar-b-ques, and fireworks.

Wear T-Shirts with your own messaging written on them. Use a permanent black marker on white, yellow, orange, or pink material if you have to.

Don't give Trump the legal means to deploy troops through an excuse that there were riots.

Show the courts Trump is full of BS.

Republican Senator Murkowski just made a deal for a new clause in Trump's Big Beautiful Bill to increase Medicaid spending only for Alaska and Hawaii in exchange for her vote to support H.R.1.

This breaks Senate rules around favouritism. Because of this, H.R.1 has lost special protections, and now needs 60 votes to pass instead of 51.

Your pressure and demonstrations have raised awareness and ensured people like parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough do their jobs.

My Senators are Schumer and Gillibrand. I can never get through by phone, and some of these issues are a lot to leave on a voicemail. I have been copy/pasting the scripts from 5Calls into these Senators' emails. I do know that Sen. Gillibrand's office acknowledges because I get emails back from her for each one I send. Sen. Schumer's voicemail directs people to his email, but I rarely get acknowledgment from his office. Spent the last hour typing away! Thank you for all the information you provide, Jess, as well as your can-do spirit.

I do the same thing with copying and pasting emails to them. On the rare occasion that I do get a real person, I give them an earful... politely, of course.

I almost always get a person when I call John Mannion's office. I shared with them "our" dilemma with Schumer and Gillibrand, and they suggested writing letters to the editor and talking to our friends about the issues.

Good governance or Inhumane treatment? That is an easy question to answer. Who elected these cruel, selfish people and why? Where did they find so many charlatans? We will not stand for this shoddy treatment of our elderly, our needy, our children, our grandchildren!

Jess, I love your content, read and take action almost every day. One request: a lot of times you hyperlink Instagram links only and I am limited to FB, Substack, Bluesky and don't want to be on any more channels, especially those of Meta. I realize you can't hyperlink if Insta is the only channel they're using. If I want to donate to K-Town, is this the website? https://www.ktownforall.org/donate

I went to the Donor Company page and had to do some digging around one of Susan Collin's donors- Hammond Lumber. Their website states that they don't give political donations. BUT, when you go to the FEC webpage, you can find that their Exec VP and another person (Mary Hammond) both identify as being with the company and they have made many, many contributions (Mary identifies as a homemaker in some lines). So, I posted this info on their Facebook page.

Same with LL Bean- their Board Chair has made contributions to Sen Collins campaign- even if the company might say otherwise.

The FEC web page is a goldmine of information - https://www.fec.gov/data/browse-data/

Funny thing about turning off the contact form, I call everyday and write (many days) my Utah members of congress. I noticed today that Senator Curtis' contact me page no longer provides the option specify whether you want a response. So, not completely turned off but they do have some flexibility in configuring their contact page. Let's keep hounding them!
