Hey Friends.

Simon Rosenberg has a great MAKE JUNE COUNT strategy. In addition to these awesome actions, our Jess has listed, make sure to join up with Simon too. He has strategies and analysis for every state that is going to count this fall. He’s upbeat and clear and has additional things for us to do. I know it’s a lot but each approach is so important.

Jess! Enjoy your time in DC. Get some rest. We have your back!

thanks for all this great information. I did write my Federal legislators about the Senate bill & Netanyahu.

Thanks Penny! I usually keep Middle East related stuff out of this newsletter, but I figured we could all agree that Netanyahu is bad.

He's bad, but boycotting his address to congress is not actually a helpful action at this time. While Netanyahu is bad, Islamism and the Islamic Republic of Iran, without mentioning Hamas, are worse, and like it or not, Israel is the strongest democracy in south west asia or north africa, has the most investment in human rights in the region, with the POSSIBLE exception of UAE, and is currently on the forefront of a world wide war against an islamic caliphate. Israel has been a long time ally, and its loss in the current war it is fighting would mean an ACTUAL genocide. We might not like Netanyahu, but, in fact, he IS listening to Biden, and Israel has changed its course multiple times during the course of the war based on what the US and other nations are saying to it. In addition, military analysts think doing so has lengthened the war, costing both israeli citizens and palestinians in gaza in terms of safety and infrastructure.

The newsletter is wonderfully coherent and I'm so grateful that you're taking all of us to the Smithsonian with you. Have a terrific time. My friends and I put on a craft show at my home this weekend so that kept me from watching/listening to the Republican noise machine and it helped. I'm reviewing my course on non-violent action and just finished planting an antique rose named "Quiet" in my garden. All of this helps. I'm not paying attention to the Republicans who landed us in this strange place to begin with and I'm simply going to write postcards, etc. to get out the vote. Safe travels.

TIMELY NOTICE

What: What Comes Next in the Trump Legal Saga?

When: Today, Monday, June 03, 2024, 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM EDT (1 hour)

Who: Brennan Center Events

Overview, per the Brennan Center for Justice Events:

Donald Trump is now the first American president convicted of a crime. The smooth trial process shows — independent of the outcome — that the U.S. justice system can still work, even with a powerful defendant.

But full accountability seems far off. The federal courts, including the Supreme Court, have stalled Trump’s prosecutions for trying to overthrow the 2020 election and for misuse of classified documents and obstruction of justice. His defense in the hush-money trial, including accusations of lies and political motivations, could serve as a blueprint in Trump’s other cases. As loud voices compete to undermine trust in the criminal prosecution of a former president, this moment calls for expert interpretation and explanation.

Join the Brennan Center for Justice virtually to hear leading authorities discuss the trial’s outcome and its implications.

Speakers: Paul Butler, Albert Brick Professor in Law, Georgetown University Law Center; Legal Analyst, MSNBC // Joyce Vance, Former U.S. Attorney, Northern District of Alabama; Distinguished Professor of the Practice of Law, University of Alabama School of Law; Legal Analyst, MSNBC; Senior Fellow, Brennan Center // Michael Waldman, President and CEO, Brennan Center // Moderator: Lauren-Brooke Eisen, Senior Director, Brennan Center Justice Program

So glad to see you were able to make some time for visiting one of the Smithsonian museums! While admission is free, the ones in DC are not easily accessible to most Americans. However when possible, it is worth visiting. I haven't been there in probably 10 years, when I was visiting my brother for 2 weeks, but will always remember the ones I was able to get to, including Natural History, Air and Space (both sites), and American History.

Jessica, you ran that analogy for all it was worth. All you forgot was that Tuck Frump and his brigands are inhaling bilge.

May i thank you for asking me to copy the two letters to the court clerks to discipline Cannon and Alito. I would never have done it without you.

Hi, Jess, I hope you are well done for the day and getting a good rest! I just wanted to let you know that I'm coming to the hearing and I'm a little confused because the listing on https://www.help.senate.gov/hearings/the-assault-on-womens-freedoms-how-abortion-bans-have-created-a-health-care-nightmare-across-america says it's SH (Hart building) 216. The original information I got from you was Dirkson 430. Apparently they are in the same complex, so I figure I should be able to find out when I get there. And you must have a host of some kind to fill you in - I hope! Blessings,

Actually, I think you're right about that. This is a crude/rude/socially unacceptable bunch who like the drama for your mama and the bad boy spin. I'm not having it. "Rule" by juvenile delinquents is not my cup of tea and I'm not into either Kool-Aid or hemlock. Let's defeat them.
