Hi, all, and happy Thursday. Another day, another disastrous SCOTUS decision. It’s heartbreaking, it’s devastating, and it’s enraging, but it’s not surprising. The MAGA majority on the Supreme Court is owned by the Federalist Society, and the Federalist Society has, by all reports, been gunning for affirmative action for a long time.
I would also encourage everyone to read today's special edition of "Abortion, Every Day".
It delineates the systematic gaslighting by anti-abortion forces, and the specific language changes they're using to drown out the daily horror stories experienced by women and girls post-Dobbs.
The ever cowed and credulous media will adopt the bad-faith framing, so we all must be diligent in pushing back.
I can't believe I actually did something BEFORE you wrote about it: I signed the petition this morning to Marriott and the Museum to not host the Moms for Liberty (yeah, right!) summit.
I don't do TikTok or IG, so I never would have seen this video you made on Bidenomics had you not "tooted your own horn," Jessica. So now I'll proudly post it on my FB page. Very informative AND entertaining!
1. Justice Thomas said he was always uncomfortable because people wondered if affirmative action and not merit got him into Yale. Poor dear. Justice Thurgood Marshall is spinning in his grave!
2. Justice Brown recused herself from the Harvard case. Why? Because she attended Harvard and wanted to avoid a conflict of interest.
Ethics standard for all Supreme Court Justices. If a justice has ever accepted a gift from a person or entity that appears in a case before the Court, that justice shall recuse him/her self.
That would be ideal, although as Sheldon Whitehouse pointed out today, it goes beyond the Ethics violations. It's the goddamn Federalist Society. They have to be reined in.
I just read an article in which Thomas criticized Brown about her opinion. I think Thomas is pissed that Brown got into Harvard and he could only get into Yale!
CBS Mornings did a piece on the so-called carbon capture facility in LA. Yikes, what a nightmare! When it was over, it looked to me like even Gayle King and Tony Dukoupil weren't convinced of its efficacy.
The 1619 Project.... There is a beautifully illustrated picture book verse "The 1619 Project: Born on the Water" by Nikole Hannah-Jones and Renee Watson. And the Reuters piece is aMAzing.
Excellent TikTok!!!! Going to spread that around for sure. All your hard work getting all that information into 3 minutes was well worth it. Thank you!!!

100% agree.
Nice video!

Two points to consider:
Poor dear indeed. Sigh.
😂
Love the tic tok message ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!

You’d think!

Yeah it seems really dubious and shady.

I listened to the podcast the NY Times published back in 2019. So glad it's getting a rebirth through the book.
Hey Lynell, I’m MA by way of VA.
Wow, yours rhymes! Nice to "meet" you...
Totally unintended!
I lived in Northern Virginia for 30 years.
Yikes! I moved to Loudoun County (close to West Virginia border) in 2000, so 23 years ago.
My best friend lives in Leesburg; my nieces in Brambleton. I went to high school in Fairfax. My daughter is out west near Winchester.
I’m a history lover and a history teacher. I majored in history with a concentration on southern history. I love that area!
