PS I just donated monthly to Sister District and Sydney Batch-- thank you for highlighting them. They are now among my many monthly small-amount donations. I am not rich but I consider my monthly donations to candidates who matter to be critical.
Thank you Jessica for these actions! My group here in NYC, The Downtown Nasty Women Social Group (DNWSG) has been working along with our sister groups Markers for Democracy, the Wednesday Group and Team MIN, to flip state legislatures, GOTV and Dem races across the country via postcardng, canvassing, texting, raising funds, and other political mobilization efforts. We do fast actions every week, but know that NOW is the time we all need to working in tandem. With your consent we would like to amplify your actions in our weekly email blasts (sourcing you and your newsletter, of course). You have been a beacon of hope and action to us all!
Thank you, Jessica for your inspiring action list. I read you and Robert Hubbell every day. And I share your actions with my neighborhood social justice action circle.
I would like to invite you and everyone who sees this to an important event next Tuesday Night 7/28. Flip the Vote educates people on the most impactful way to invest in democracy so their campaign donations don't go to more political ads and glossy flyers. They money for BIPOC-led grassroots organizations working to GOTV in 7 swing states that were critical to Biden's victory. You've pointed out grassroots organizations' success rate at turning out their neighbors. The 7 groups recommended by Flip the Vote are vetted by Movement Voter Project and have proven track records at registering new voters and activating low-propensity ones in their districts. I hope you will join me at Flip the Vote's open house party this Tuesday. Click on the link to RSVP: https://www.flipthevote.org/events
Use the outrage of Roe and other terrible Supreme Court recent decisions as well as 1/6 hearings:
1. Many States have intentionally been passing repressive laws impacting the rights of Native Americans, youth, seniors, disabled, people of color to vote, and the Supreme Court has been impacting the rights of too many Americans to vote by its decisions diluting the Voting Rights Act of 1965 after its decisions in Shelby County, Brnovich, Rucho and other cases.
National Voter Corps is working to end the filibuster for voting rights so that the Freedom to Vote: John R Lewis Bill will get to the floor of theSenate and be debated. Senators need to understand that our vote is our voice and is being denied to too many Americans.
The right to petition is a right granted under the 1st Amendment to petition our government.
Please see
www.nationalvotercorps.org and the two links: Crushing Democracy and The Rise and Fall of the Voting Rights Act if further information is needed to understand the urgency of getting Voting Rights passed now.
An ad will be in the NY Times to promote the NVC petition and educate readers to the issues.
We must fight now for our democracy, not just watch the January 6th hearings.
Kind regards and thank you if you are able to help with this.
