So glad to see you shout out The Environmental Voter Project! I have written loads of postcards with them and done some phonebanking. If you're on the fence about volunteering, I can attest that writing the postcards is kind of therapeutic. I like to do them 10 at a time when I have a spare half-hour.

Is there a cost involved when you're ordering or mailing?

There is no cost for the cards. You can choose to pay for the postcard stamps or have them mail the stamps to you at no cost to you.

Thats a great benefit for me (on limited income) can you post a link to their web page? I’ve got time to write on cards but cant afford to stamp as many as I can do!

Here’s the link for various volunteer opportunities, with the postcarding orientations in there and phone banking. https://www.environmentalvoter.org/get-involved

Once you do one training with them, you can sign up for subsequent postcard campaigns without doing the training again.

I haven’t phone banked a lot, but members of my Citizens Climate Lobby chapter have made a lot of calls for Environmental Voter Project with mostly positive interactions!

Hi Jess, my senator, Adam Schiff is suddenly introducing some kind of crypto coin bill according to a post from him yesterday. Considering that he voted for every iteration of the Genius Act, what is one to make of this? Is this CYA or is his bill credible? Would love to hear your take. Thanks.

The GENIUS Act (Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins) seeks to establish regulatory framework for payment stablecoins, a type of crypto currency. To protect consumers, it requires permitted issuers of stablecoins to be regulated by either federal or state regulators. However, the GENIUS Act did not include reforms to prevent public officials from profiting from digital assets. (My Dem senator voted for it also, stating she worked to “strengthen” it.)

Trump and his sons launched a crypto venture last fall, World Liberty Financial, which has since released a stablecoin. Trump has earned about $57 million from the venture. Trump also profited from his meme coin, $TRUMP.

Today (6/23), Schiff introduced the COIN Act, which would prohibit the president, vice president, high-ranking executive branch employees, special government employees and members of Congress from issuing, sponsoring or endorsing digital assets. It prevents public officials from profiting from digital assets, and the restrictions also would extend to the immediate family members. Sen Schiff posted a video explaining it today.

Thanks Jess! Hopping on my calls now. FWIW I think my Dem senators also need to be reminded to vote no on the big BS bill. Cory Booker is full of surprises and I don’t trust him as far as I can throw him anymore. Take nothing for granted.

Not that I don’t believe you but I don’t trust a thing Sen Booker says anymore. His actions haven’t equaled his words of late.

New Jersey has a Gubernatorial election this November as well. We have a fabulous candidate in Rep Mikie Sherill, but the Gov race was very close last time with the same GOP candidate who has become more MAGA! Our Governor is considered among the strongest in the nation because they have appointment power of numerous seats that are elected elsewhere. Imagine what happens to Jersey quality of life, including schools, with a MAGA Governor! Thanks for your support to help us elect Rep Sherrill.

"Republicans are trying really hard to get this monstrosity passed quickly, before more Americans understand what’s in it." I suspect that at least part of the motivation is to take advantage of the cover that Trump's unconstitutional and probably illegal attack on Iran gives them. While a lot of people are trying to sort out whether the value of (maybe) damaging or destroying Iran's ability to build a nuclear weapon outweighs the blatant violation of legal standards, we shouldn't forget to call and oppose the Big B***s*** Bill. Senator Hawley might, maybe, possibly, oppose it as written if what he's been saying publicly is what he really thinks.

Most definitely not, hence my qualifications on his willingness to be consistent with his public statements. In fact, I just got Form Letter #3WFA, explaining how Trumplethinskin has been aggressive about fighting the misuse of federal funds ever since his election.

One thing I recommend is to look at this letter by Senators Markey, Merkley, Wyden, and Schumer. It includes a list of the specific hospitals in each state that are vulnerable to closure if the bill passes. I'm trying to include the hospital names in all of my communication because I think many people who don't get the high-level stuff understand the importance of their local hospital https://www.markey.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/letter_on_rural_hospitals.pdf

I like writing to my senators and congresspeople, but the language you use just type casts us as opposing everything being put forth even by my representatives. ( I am in a red state) I think using more neutral language makes sense so that they think anyone and everyone are against these bills.
