And as I keep reminding people, for every one person protesting in person or honking in support, probably five to ten people were behind them in spirit. Personally, I can name ten people who supported the protest, who definitely do not want a monarchy in America, but they could not come out for very good reasons: recovering from chemo, expecting company the next day, being at work, having to keep appointments, not realizing until too late what was going on, etc., etc., etc.

I know we cannot "count" such people as part of attendance numbers, but I was very aware of them as I attended a protest in Clintonville, a part of Columbus, OH. They may not "count" for attendance, but boy, do they count!!!

Hi Jess,

I worked on Extra Credit today & adapted the letter addressed to Fox News’s largest advertisers.

I will include it here, in the event anyone would like to use/adapt it.

Good morning,

As your company is one of Fox News’s biggest advertisers, I would ask that support for Fox News be completely stopped. Rupert Murdoch and Fox News are continuing to spread political misinformation. At this time in our country, not only is this an outrage, it is also incredibly dangerous.

Fox News is the gateway channel to right-wing extremism. Fox News is also watched primarily by republican supporters. The lies & staggering misinformation are unhealthy for the American people and for our democracy.

Examples follow:

Misinformation aired during the COVID-19 pandemic endangered hundreds of thousands of American lives. Fox News repeated propaganda and helped politicize a deadly disease. They helped to politicize science. Americans died.

Fox denied there was a violent right-wing attack on the U.S. Capitol and on our lawmakers—the insurrection that happened on January 6th. There was a noose prepared and ready to “hang Mike Pence” as the rioters chanted. This was because Vice President Pence would not certify the presidential election and claim republicans the winners. In the two weeks following the 2020 election, Fox News cast doubt on or pushed conspiracy theories about the election results nearly 800 times. Internal texting between show hosts revealed they knew the truth of Biden’s victory.

Fox fueled conspiracies, told their viewers the 2020 election was invalid, sowed confusion and created disbelief (in the truth) and anger in our public.

Fox News’s dangerous misinformation increasingly poses a direct threat to our democracy. Their programs, opinions & misinformation has not prepared the American public for the current political state. They repeat the current administration’s dishonest propaganda. Donald Trump is progressively moving our country away from our allies and aligning us with our enemies. Fox News supports this administration by lying to the public and doling out misinformation. Thus Fox News is complicit in the horrific movement of the United Stated towards autocratic rule. The public needs to know the truth in order to help defend our democracy. The time is right now.

Whether speaking on COVID-19, the Movement for Black Lives, the election, or our climate crisis, Fox News values lies over truth.

Any company continuing to purchase advertising with Fox News is profiting from and complicit with reporting misinformation, valuation of dishonesty and continuing fear-mongering. Our fellow Americans deserve so much better.

I am writing, with great concern, to demand that you support democracy today and cease all advertising with Fox News. You can either keep funding Fox’s lies or truly and honestly support We the American People and thus support democracy. You cannot do both. I hope your company chooses on the right side of history.

Sincerely,

I’m posting Jess’s Substack that includes all the good information & a link to send letters.

Revise the letter if you will.

Does anyone know the best way to get a message through to someone like Jess or Katie Couric? Thanks

I posted a link (somewhere in this thread) and it’s also reposted in my Substack. Jess includes a link in her 6-13-2025 posting. The link takes you to a page to write/edit a letter and send to all of the heads of these companies.

I’m sorry this turned out so confusing.

It is time for us to also take up the banner of helping Mikie Sherrill become the next governor of New Jersey. She just won her hard fought primary and is going to need help financing her campaign. She is a fabulous candidate and running against a Trump endorsed & heavily financed Republican. New Jersey is not a sure bet. We've elected Republicans before. Please begin to include her in your posts.

Top 3: - I have great concern about keeping that house seat blue. - Her support for LGBTQIA+ has been inconsistent, most recently having voted for the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in December 2024, which includes a provision that would restrict access to healthcare for transgender minors in military families. - Her congressional campaign accepted a $24,000 donation from the Musk/SpaceX corporate PAC between 2019 and September 2024. (She donated it to NJ food bank in March of this year only after NJ voters were talking about it & it could affect her gubernatorial campaign.)

Jessica- Thanks for the great post regarding Saturday. Just want to express pride for my hometown--PHILADELPHIA!! It was drizzling and overcast but the massive march starting suitably at Love Park was a total lovefest. People ignored the unfounded fears about violence and showed up in droves. Over the last few weeks I gave out 500 flyers announcing NoKIngs to my fellow Philadelphians on the street and the response was overwhelmingly positive. (only one "Fuck Off") A shoutout to Philadelphia Indivisible and to all of the other amazing organizers who made this possible. And thanks to everyone in the U.S. and around the world for showing up.

Just listened to your Substack Live with Qasim Rashid Esq. and it was great! Very informative! Thank you! I live in the Los Angeles area and want to provide support to the immigrant community that is being targeted by ICE. Just googled Non Profit Immigrant Rights Organizations in LA and there are several. I will call and see what help these organizations need, but wondered if you may be able to provide some information about these organizations, or maybe a substack live with representatives from one or more groups and then they can speak to their needs. Not to ask more of you, you are already doing so much! Thank you for all you do!
